what's the difference between the special edition chrome DT880 and premium DT880?

is it possible to use the 32OHM version unamped? I'll add an amp in the future for sure but would want to use it unamped for a while. how much worst would they be compared to the 250 and 600OHM version when amped?

Hi I'm downgrading from HD800. Buying them without an audition. Looking for a detailed sound. My question is how painful is it going to to go from -HD800 to Dt880? Will I be able to still hear everything on the recording? What else will I Be sacrificing? Please encourage me friends (;

Any headphones over 1000$ are overpriced because you can get the regular HD800 and never need any other headphones EVER.

Utopia vs HD800?

The only headphone i really liked is the HD800, i no longer have it. I'm wondering is there a "poor man's" version of it in headphones that cost  much less, looking for neutral detailed sound, good instrument separation, generally flat headphone, i guess the DT880 will be the most recommended...

I tried a lot of headphones...none touch the HD800, they are the closest to real pro studio monitors( like ATC, PMC, Genelec),.they let you hear EVERYTHING and they are extremely flat. many other so called "flagships" were so colored it was embarrassing...   Many people like this type of...

I think Sennheiser has made a mistake, and it would have been much better to sell the new 800S for the same price(or less) than the old HD800, like Beyer did with the T1 v2, most people are not even going to need or use the extra cable, so why force people to pay for it? just leave it as an option.

The highs are a critical part of the HD800's unique sound. So, less highs... Im not so optimistic about it.

What is the improvement in the 800S over the old 800? Just a little more bass?

Damn. I was hoping it was going to be like T1 Gen2, improved but same price. It would have been better to lower the price, and sell the extra cables as an option.
