Noobandroid, Regarding the ZMF (V2 rewired with copper for me) and the magni, I am happy with the combo. When I picked up the ZMF at Zack's place I brought my magni so was able to compare it with its Lyr. Magni sounded brighter (to me it seems cleaner while the Lyr has a warm intimist sound)...

I was in Chicago 2days ago. I hesitated to stop by Zack's place to get a try of its wooden proto...now I regret it a lot!! A upgrade plan, would be great...

I know that I resucite a old treat but I would like to thank Negakinu for its list. I was looking for a good can for metal and went for ZMF v2 (T50RP mod) based on his ranking of the mad dog. I couldn't be happier after being disapointed by grado RS2i (not enough bass for my tastes).

I would agree with you assessment of the magni feeling "thinner" than the lyr. You actually discribe it much better than I would. What I noticed is that the lyr gave a sort of emotion to the voices...the issue is that I don't know if it was real or just because I knew that it was a the tube amp...

That why we are all different... What is not significant for me could be huge for someone else... I did the comparison with someone who has much more experience as headhifier and owe several ortho/planar and lyr, mjolnir; he had the same conclusion. I don't say that the magni is better, I just...

I am definitly interested to meet other headhifier. My gear is not impressive at all (HD598, magni, modi) but I just bought a T50RP ZMF and love it; it would be great to try out other stuff.
