Headphones vs Speakers -- an Inconvenient Truth
I use a $6000 integrated amp, I own most of the decent high end headphones. My speakers are preety good $10,000 msrp. I like some songs better on the headphones. Speakers > headphones. I blast speakers when no one is home and headphones when there are people. If I had to start all over I would... -
Why are flagship headphones so expensive now?
there is probably a reason why authorized dealer cut the price less than half. it must of not been a good headphone in the first place that $500 msrp one. I would go and say a sennheiser HD600/650 would be the better buy. The source is also very important headphones are the cheapest part of...- Rainstar

Why are flagship headphones so expensive now?
if we are talking msrp, just buy used and search on hifishark which will go to audiogon/usaudiomart/headfi etc.... You can find V1 Hifiman HE-1000 for $1500 now thats what half off? many HD800's are $600-800 bracket I know a few used amps that used to be endgame during hd800/tesla...- Rainstar

Why are flagship headphones so expensive now?
its really hard to compare a tube amp sound to a solid state amp sound. there are too many variables. From just my own ears when i listen to tubes, tracks are warmer, possibly due to second/third even order harmonics Tube amps I believe have more distortion than solid state. When I...- Rainstar

Why are flagship headphones so expensive now?
I think its funny many people think this way just because something costs Twice as much or 10 times as much does not equate to it being that much times better. a $2 hotdog wont be twice as better than a $1 hotdog nor is a $1000 amp twice as better as a $500 amp. With everything there...- Rainstar

Why are flagship headphones so expensive now?
I don't see a problem with flagship being $2-4k. Headphones are the cheap part of my chain, amp, dac can cost way more. I did dream of a hd600 before hd800 even came out years ago while making minimum wage. Now that I'm employed in the six figures salary range it's not so bad. And comparing it...- Rainstar

My best advice is not to shop blindly. Be happy with what you have now when the time comes and finances align with the sales Gods pull the trigger. Have 2-5 choices. Try to somehow audition those choices. With music you like. DNA Stratus, Cavalli liquid gold, cary sli 80 modded or cad 300 sei...- Rainstar
