i would at least get a DacPort from CEntrance. it's a lot more expensive than the Fiio products, but you get what you pay for. i've tried it on my HD598, which i have long sold it by now (rocking a HD800 S right now). i would put the Dacport leagues and bounds ahead of all the Fiio products...

after using the 650 for a few days. if there's anything that i have to complain about, is the clamping force. damn this thing really isn't made for people with large heads. the 598 on the other hand feels like you're not wearing anything. 

Interesting mod. The soundstage definitely took me by surprise.

  it's only for when you play games or watch movies. other than that, you would use hifi stereo for music listening.

i always find the 49720 to be too light on bass. unless your headphone is already heavy on bass, the stock one works better and most neutral in terms of soundstage, tonality, bass, treble and mid. if anything the stock op amps are just a tad bit on the bright side. 

i was just looking into the Essence One Muses edition. OMG.. those Muses 01 opams are $50 each!!!!. has anyone tried rolling those in our STX? does it make that much difference? Better difference? i mean for $50 a pop, it better make me come!!!

ok... don't let the naming convention fool you. AD900X is dramatically different than AD900. i hate to use the cliche word of balance. but if you think of the frequency response curve of the AD900, which has a sparkly high and forward mid and very very shy low end, the AD900X pretty much bumped...

just got the AD900X... :) will be doing some in depth testing the next couple days. but so far right out of the box it does seem more promising than the AD900. :)   stay tuned. :)

yeah. i liked the AD700. and its airy sound. but you just don't get much detail and accuracy beyond that. the AD900 is much better imo with a very forward presentation. but in the same jazz example, all you get is a wide airy sound (some might call it artificial), without the sense of refraction.
