Anyone know the release date for the nwavguy ODA
I too am very interested in the ODA. I just ordered an O2 from JDS labs and it should arrive in a few days. I emailed JDS about a few modifications to the O2/ODAC and they told me it was possible for a price. What I later found out was that almost everything I was asking for will be...- JasonCz

E7 vs E11 vs E17 - Which is the best purchase?
Quote: I would like to clarify something here for anybody that may read this thread in the future. If the Fiio E9 has an output impedance of 10-Ohm than it would not be recommended for headphones with impedance of less than 80 ohms. Greater than 80 ohms would be ok (assuming it has enough...- JasonCz

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
I wanted to post a little update on the issues I was having a few weeks ago. My "rockboxed" 160GB IPOD was having trouble playing many tracks, and would freeze, or start running erratically. A reset would fix the problem for a short time, and then the freezing would start again. File...- JasonCz

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
Quote: I would donate $50 to get rockbox working on my VW's built in ipod controls. I wouldn't hold your breath though, it seems development is pretty slow.- JasonCz

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
Quote: Quote: So Im still having trouble. I restored the unit with iTunes, then installed a clean version of rockbox. After proceeding to copy only about 3GB of music (1 folder at a time, just in case) the transfer stopped, and even after 20 minutes it was still hung. I...- JasonCz

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
Quote: Thanks for the info. Ill try the format as a last resort. Let me add some more detail about my issues. I was having trouble with a particular set of files, so I deleted them completely, then re-copied them, and I still get the same error with those files. To me, this would...- JasonCz

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
OK. So I'm having some issues here. I have RockBox on a 160GB 7G Classic. I have the issue where sometimes during copying, the transfer speed slows way down (to a reported 2MB/sec). Sometimes ejecting and plugging the unit back in fixes it, sometimes it doesn't. I also have a fairly...- JasonCz

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
From my limited knowledge and experience, Rockbox on a Classic will not work with an external DAC. Your best bet is to use a Line Out connector to an amp of some sort. I'm considering an Fiio E11 or E17 as an entry level amp. I wouldnt be using the DAC on the E17, but I like the fact that...- JasonCz

It was my first time at an event like this, and I have to say that it wont be my last. The selection of gear was unbelievable and everybody that I got to talk to was very friendly and patient with my lack of knowledge. Thanks Everyone!- JasonCz

Opinion on EBAY transaction
Thank you to everyone that responded. I actually decided to make an offer to the seller instead of going through the claim process. He took it. I got a 120GB IPOD Classic with freshly replaced front and back for $110 bucks. I thought that it worked out pretty well.- JasonCz

Opinion on EBAY transaction
Thanks. I know I can make a claim, but I would prefer to handle it outside the claim process. He's offering to return the funds to me after I ship the item back to him. If I do so, I will have no recourse. I am considering asking for him to refund me the money, and then I will send the item back.- JasonCz

Opinion on EBAY transaction
I have no idea of the right place to post this question, so I guess Ill put it in "the lounge". I've also posted this on overclock.net in the offtopic. The Situation: I recently purchased an ipod classic 120GB from ebay. It was basically described as "like new". When the item arrived I...- JasonCz

Quote: Quote: Thanks for the input guys. What I do know is that I like a fuller sound with a fairly strong bottom. I have a pair of SHURE SRH-940's, my first foray into the mid-range headphone game and although they are very detailed they honestly just don't do anything for...- JasonCz

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
I've read 2/3 of the 72 pages here and Im still not 100% sure about my question. I have a 2012 VW Golf TDI with Tech Package. It has a dock connector for an IPOD in my center armrest. With a RockBoxed 120G IPod, will I be able to play music through that connection and have the IPod charged...- JasonCz

New Head-Fi'er here. I'm looking for a good around the ear headphone for indie rock, acoustic rock, classic rock, classic, jazz, blues. I mostly stay away from rap, and electronic. I will be using these at first with my Xonar STX, and then eventually possibly a desktop and/or portable amp. ...- JasonCz

VA / MD / DC meet on Saturday, July 28, 2012
Hello all. I'm new to the head-fi game. I'm currently only using a pair of SHURE SRH-940s and some MDR-V700s along with my Xonar STX. I'm thinking of heading up that way just to hear some of the head-fi potential and where I can go from here. My question...what is the protocol at an event...- JasonCz

Why are there no decent MP3 playing cans?
I recently saw a pair of what I believe were AKG headphones with a very short custom cord that went from one of the smaller ipod models directly into the headphones detachable cable jack. The ipod clipped directly onto the headphone. I thought it was a very slick solution. I cant recall...- JasonCz
