I have both qb3 and qb3akg, and I prefer sound from the regular qb3 over akg tuned. I find the peak at 4k more bothersome on qb3akg, and qb3 just need a bit of low shelf to cut down on the bass, but even as it, it is quite tolerable. Sort of reminds me of Zero Audio Tenore.

Get poweramp alpha for your g3! The new hi res mode enables output at 44.1khz sample rate as opposed to force resample everything 48k, and allows output at 24bit. While the resampler quality isn't terrible to begin with, now it's finally great as a digital source.

Tenores definitely sound better than ed9. There is a sense of roughness with ed9 that make them sound exciting for some, where as tenore has very smooth frequency response and relatively low distortion. Fidue might be good if you are looking for somethimg with a darker presentation.
