HeadAmp Pico Portable Amp (w/ optional upsampling 24/96 USB DAC) Pre-Order Thread

Justin, Please cancel this order if it is not too much trouble (i.e. someone else on the list can be sent this same configuration)... Since I have not heard anything in the thread, pre-order list or email, I'll assume it wasn't started yet. Please put me down for a black Pico with DAC...

    Linux Help

if you go into the "software sources" admin dialog, you can select the "universe", "multiverse" and "backports" repositories... you'll find most stuff you need in those. also, make sure you check out "medibuntu" for additional codecs/apps. the directions/public key for it, you'll find...

    Computer > ? > KSC-75

this suggestion may or may not help...but i would personally sell the tomahawk and get a predator or pico. basically, you then have something as portable as the tomahawk (a little bigger though), which is both a portable usb dac and a headphone amp in one small box (i.e. it can be used as either...

    connecting a wire w/out solder

ok, so i have a cheap fm transmitter and the antenna broke off the circuit board at the solder point. i don't own, nor have any interest in purchasing a solder gun/equipment... so my question is, can i just super glue the wire back on the solder blob it broke off of or is there another, better...

    Linux-fi

i've been using linux on the desktop since slackware back in like 94 :-) well, i have gone through some free/openbsd, solaris and irix periods since then.... now, in the last few years i've been just using xp, mostly because of this goofy audio habit...and i just simply don't do wine or vm's...

reflections on bass and the dt770/pro 80

there is so much music in the low end of the spectrum, that if your headphones aren't able to reproduce it then you're really missing out on some very important sound. bass is integral to almost all music (not just "bass-heavy" genre's). i've always concentrated on details and mid-range timbre...

anyone else use two different size iem tips?

heh...you're right! but then i would feel guilty, since there are probably those same threads numbering in the double digits... i thought i would use mine to also find out who else has asymetric ear canals, cuz i just gotta be different :-) mjb

anyone else use two different size iem tips?

actually i created the thread, not because i care what people might think, but really just to express my satisfaction with this headphone... and i'm too lazy to find an old e500 impressions thread :-) mjb

anyone else use two different size iem tips?

i've tried a few different iem's in the past, because i really appreciate the form factor for portability, discreetness and isolation, but i never could get past the lack of sound quality i was getting... i made sure i had a good seal and the fit was right, etc... it wasn't they they sounded...

    Home Theater discussions

Thanks for the pointers! I picked up an Optoma DLP HD HD70 and a 106" Grey Wolf II screen. I bought a TV wall mount (basically a sturdy solid metal shelf that bolts to the wall), put it right under the ceiling (about 1 foot under) and just lay the projector upside down on some squares of foam...

    Home Theater discussions

I've just started my long and expensive journey into HT. I've been reading stuff on Audio Asylum (Video section) and Audiogon (HT section). I picked up a 720p DLP front projector, projector mount and 106" silver 1.2 gain screen... looks fantastic. So I'm using my 2 channel gear for the HT...

keep your eyes on the "digital" classifieds on audiogon. there's a lot of stuff which sounds fantastic for under $500 used. cambridge audio 640c v2, music hall 25.2, rega planet 2000, many more (you'll be able to find lots of threads on head-fi in the "dedicated source" forum with titles like...

    CD Changer Recommendations

I'd suggest getting a cheaper headphone amp and looking for the best player you can afford with what's leftover. There are a few cheaper headphone amps for under $100 used (little dot, pa2v2, cmoy, etc) and have over $200 left for a good used cd player. That will by far be the best bang for your...
