    Video magazine test

In the latest (4/2006) well-known german Video magazine (reference for video equipment) there is an article about the headphones for portable devices which includes the test of in-ear phones. They tested Shure E4C, Ultimate Ears Superfi 5 Pro, Creative EP-630, Sennheiser CX300, Sony MDR EX 71...

    Head phones for my ipod?

you should use a search function - this has been discussed countless times. I'm personally happy with ER-4P plus the cable.

    ER-4P less detailed highs

Update: I have finally solved my problem. On 4YourEars, where I made the purchase, they were very helpful - we even checked the phones and they are not faulty. After trying the P-S cable I realized that It is true what some people were saying: ER-4P simply have slightly rolled-off...

    ER-4P less detailed highs

I just came back from the shop where I had chance to try HD600 and HD485 with my iPod. HD600, while difficult to drive, were excelent, I could hear "my cymbals" extremely well, no comparison with ER-4P. HD485, overalll much muddier sound, the cymbals were less prominent, but were there -...

    ER-4P less detailed highs

warpdriver, this was very helpful. Would you suggest me to compare it with some Sennheiser headphones? Just to be sure. If I compare the cymbal sound on the tracks like Pink Floyd - Breathe, Comfortable Numb etc. - on 225 it is almost dominating the tracks, it is clear and separate and it...

    ER-4P less detailed highs

Now this is a big surprise. After reading hundreds of reviews raving about ER-4P exceptional treble, now I hear that their treble is rolled off. I was completely misinformed.

    ER-4P less detailed highs

This is the followup of my previous post about the wierd problem I have with my new Ety ER-4P. I was comparing the sound with 3 different other headphones (Apple original, Grado 225, Philips 3396). I think my seal is ok. I have tried the fomies too. My conclusions: The bass response...

    ER-4P - less resolving?

Today I will borrow Grado 225 from my friend to be absolutely sure. I will report the comparison and findings.

    ER-4P - less resolving?

I use 3 flange tips and find them relatively comfortable. And generally I like ER-4P, but in comparison I find my old headphones even more resolving and clear, which was a big surprise for me.

    ER-4P - less resolving?

I'm think I have a good seal and fine bass. How do I test whether I have a seal or not?

    ER-4P - less resolving?

Thanks for the reply. I never thought something would be wrong with my hearing. Some sounds seem not only to be be clearer but also to be much more separated (I don't think this has anything to do with the hearing). Still not convinced.

    ER-4P - less resolving?

but, do you experience the same if you compare them with HD595 or HD590? You seem to appreciate ER-4P as high end.

    ER-4P - less resolving?

I finally bought Etymotic ER-4P headphones. I simply couldn't resist to hear what was generally perceived as - extremely resolving and detailed, analytical, - have best separation of instruments, - best highs - let you hear details in your music that you didn't know existed. etc. Now...

    er-4p bass

Thanks for your kind comments. Ok, I currently mostly listen to the music like REM, Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Mike Oldfield, Sting, acoustic, etc. If I summarize, ER-4P's are generally not the best fit for (not the best sounding) iPod and probably not for "my" type of music...

    er-4p bass

After reading all good and bad comments regarding the er-4p as having weak bass response, being extremely detailed, sterile etc. I'm seriously considering the purchase. Since it is all relative I would simply like to know how these characteristics differ from the original iPod phones - for...

    can canalphones compete?

Hello, I'm new to the forum and would like to ask you for a quick advise regarding the upgrade of my ipod phones. I mostly listen to the music late in the evening in bed so what I'm looking for is: - best sound, clarity, transparence, soundstage - "seeing" the position of the band members and...
