    DR Who and AKG240

If anyone watched today's episode of Dr Who, right at the beginning I noticed one of the guest stars on the episode had a pair of AKGs on, it looked like the akg240

    Best keyboards for gaming!

Regarding the key placements you will get used to it after awhile, that's the nice thing about the human brain, it adapts so well.  And if you want a mechanical keyboard and you don't want the clicky noises, don't get a dampener, just get black switches, most people bottom out the keys while...

    “Beats by Dr. Dre”

Quote: I lol'd   As for my buddies who can't get enough of beats and keep trying to convince me to buy a pair, I love the face they make after I let them listen to my headphones, properly amped with the bass up just to get them to stop complaining that they have no bass of course.  I...

    Audio Technica ATH-M30 vs ATH-M50?

M50's have an extremely generous price to performance ratio, even for audio technica, I would definitely recommend getting them as they are worth every penny you pay.  Great set of cans to take to work or school or w/e and the street price of the m50s is around 115 dollars if you get them...

Sennheiser has only a few good cans and a lot of bad ones?

A lot of people dump on sennheisers because they tend to be more dark and natural sounding than many other headphones.  Bassheads tend to not like sennheisers as much because they a tighter, but much quieter bass response which can be increased with proper amplification but it will never be that...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Quote:   The frequency argument is only partially correct here, everyone's ears are different and some people can hear more than average and some people less than average.  Also, the fact that you can't actually hear some of the much higher and lower frequencies doesn't mean that you...

    Headphones for Flight?

for full cans, I like my pxc 450s when i go flying and as far as not full I would just go with ATH-CKM500s, they're great little IEMs for the price bracket that they are in fitting audio technica's usually generous price/performance ratio

Amp or Sound card for sennhieser HD 429 ?

Just grab a little fiio amp, you could probably do with an e6 honestly

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Sonic artifacting is when the sound is distorted through compression, sometimes it warbles, maybe sounds like your are underwater, or gets metallic, ect.  It's kind of like when you take a small image on the computer, blow it up and you see all the weird stuff around the lines, only in this case...

NEWS: Beats in a lawsuit with Yamaha

I completely lost it when I saw the Dr who ad, only thing I could think of was both of those headphones are probably more destructive (to your ears) than a sonic screwdriver (to machines)

What headphones are you currently rocking?

Home/school(sometimes) - sennheiser HD598s (to replace my old 595s that were falling apart) Gym - ATH-CKM500 IEMs Plane/general travel/school - sennheiser PXC 450s   I'm still sad that the cracking in the 595s got so bad that the cups started to fall off...

    Best keyboards for gaming!

Actually the black widow is a fairly decent keyboard to game on, the only problem is unless you get the stealth one, they use cherry MX blues which are the clicky as screw keys.  I personally like blues because I'm a light finger typist and the sound is just awesome, but people who game with me...

    Most Comfortable full sized Headphones

    1. HD595s 2. HD800s (on display in a hifi shop, so they had been loosened up considerably) 3. HD 650s   I'll note here that I wear glasses, so most closed cans that actually need a seal don't feel particularly comfortable as they tend to push on my frames which hurts my ears.  The only...

    Headphone Sightings 2

Had some guy pull out a Stax srm 323 amp and a pair of sr-507s.  I told the guy I was proud of him and he let me listen through them, it was a good day   I helped start a sennheiser following on my campus and I now see a considerable number of hd650s, 598s, 558s and 518s

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

So, I just recently discovered an actual good hi-fi store near where I live (screwing awesome) and they had the HD 800s available to demo.  I think that was the first time I'd actually been floored by headphones, I literally could not stand because they sounded so clean.  Without a doubt I can...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

So my 595s are quite "beat-up" at this point and the cups are starting to fall off the actual set (severe cracking, there is a lot of duct tape on them), but they are also quite old.  Anyway, I just went out and purchased this set so I wouldn't have to keep screwing around with repairs all the...

Reply to review by 'deltaechoe' on item 'Razer Tiamat 7.1'

Another note, if you are skill with an equalizer you can clean the soundstage on these up pretty well. So while they don't sound like my 595s (RIP, sniff) they at least don't sound like a gigantic brown blob of noise mess.

Reply to review by 'deltaechoe' on item 'Razer Tiamat 7.1'

So I just bought these a few hours ago so I have a bit of a burn in period to deal with (should be good in a week or so) but as far as the music is concerned, it does sound like crap when you aren't in the 7.1 mode. There was a lack of bass initially in the 7.1 mode, and this will stick if you...

The ATH-CKM500..The best CKM earphone yet.

I just got mine in the mail and am definitely pleased with it's quality vs the price I paid.  I know they aren't the absolute best IEM's but for the 60 dollars I just paid, they definitely exceed in the value aspect.  Even without burn in I already like them more than my Klipsch s4 IEMs that I...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

One morning I got fed up with one of my friends trying to lord his Beats over my HD 650s, so I let him wear mine for a few minutes.  He promptly stood on the table and said "Anyone who has 25 dollars and can get to me first gets my Beats" and he sold his beats right there on the spot and ordered...

Daily Commuting With Your Gear ! (Pictures Please !)

Well I'll edit in pics later, but when I travel I'm either using my HD 595s or my PXC 450s (depending on the noise level of where I'm going and the commute) that are attached to my E17 that is either in one of my pockets or strapped to my belt if I have less than 2 pockets on each side of my...

Use a standard USB DAC with a Nexus 7 (step by step guide)

Quote: That's good to know, diversity is grand.  As far as the SGS3 goes, I don't think that's going to happen since the DAC does draw a bit too much power even when you turn the USB charge option off.  I don't think the phone can handle that.
