Wow that right there reads like an fpga DAC. I.e. no off the shelf DAC chip; all software/fpga based. Similar to PS audio direct stream. It says Amanero USB interface without 22 and 24m clocks, and then data is processed by fpga. Very exciting if that's correct.

    Audio-gd NFB-28

I hope it works out for you. I recently needed to service my 28.38. I asked to perform the repair myself in order to avoid shipping. I would consider my request unusual, and risky, but Kingwa obliged. He spent some time to troubleshoot, propose a root cause to the problem, and sent parts & tools...

Ordered the nfb-28.38, in silver no less. First 30 get a 5% discount - mentioned earlier that new models have a promo price but not sure if details were posted yet. I only learned of the discount upon emailing for a quote.

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

Maybe I am rare breed loving both the 507s & D5000s. What turned you off about the HE-400s?

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

^ haha I am trying to imagine how much you hate the 507s. Well, yeah - they are completely different. If you press me for a black and white answer, I like the 507s in nearly every way over the D5000s. That's misleading all by itself. Truth is, I probably need both depending on what mood I am...

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

I like my SR-507s more than the D5000s, but still appreciate the bass slam; I was hoping to find a happy medium in planar magnetics. Ultimately who knows. I am a happy risk taker.

Thanks HeadFi... now I am entertaining trades for HiFiMan HE 500, or maybe LCD 2. It is now up to all of you to talk me out of it.

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

^^yeah the these Denons (D5000, personally) are really capable phones, and have the funnest sound amongst my collection - really easy to reach for. Of course, it also helps I bought these new on clearance making them one of the rare pieces in my vast collection of hobby toys that have actually...

HD800 being "picky" with amps myth

Inadequacy of measurements...   Our ability to measure resolves many orders of magnitude beyond our ability to hear. Amplifiers are simple pieces of equipment, because they perform a simple task. Likewise, the signal coming out of an amp differs in a predictable & explainable way from the...

Schiit Decrapifier released - USB power isolator

Honestly, the only useful thing this could have had was galvanic (including ground) isolation, but it doesn't; it favors usb 2.0 instead.

    The Stax SR-507 Thread

I have to say, the SR-507s really show what a nice pair of HPs the Denon D5000s are too. I was worried I would come home to NY and hate the Denons. Yes they are colored and somewhat veiled in comparison. They don't give me shivers as though I were sitting at a live venue. But they do wrap me up...

    The Stax SR-507 Thread

I highly recommend the 323s / SR-507 combo.  I plunged right in without really appreciating any of the imbalance complaints, so knock on wood nothing bad happens. I just had a listen to some of my recent favorite tracks on my NHT Super Ones - I couldn't crank them this late, so they were no...

    The Stax SR-507 Thread

uh oh - Smyth A8 on its way to me.   This forum....   Also, more thoughts on the 507: For the 1st time I have a strong preference for more lively mic'd recordings, acoustic, vocal, and the like with high dynamics. Acoustic bass instruments are supremely powerful with lovely texture -...

    The Stax SR-507 Thread

Oh it's great with acoustic blues, live sessions; Percy Sledge live is really powerful and moving. Great timbre and instrumental bass. Just loving it. Quite a refreshing departure from my Denons. It's even eerily good with certain fast electronic music. Bass is satisfying and correct.
