Meze 99 Neo Discussion + Impressions Thread
I had replaced my factory ear pads with the Brainwavz Hybrid velour pads too and, initially, they fit on the Meze ear cups very loosely but still sealed. The y really improved the depth and prevented my ear from touching the inside, but b/c of the loose fit I had to adjust (jostle) them to me...- Perpendicular

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
I recommend the sheepskin ear pads from Brainwavz👍🏼. They DO hep with sibilance. But, be warned…You will have to modify them to properly fit correctly on the PM-3 earphone shell. It isn’t an easy mod, either! Unless you can find a better way to do this, it involves cutting the old OEM Oppo...- Perpendicular

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
Thanks for reaching back so quickly. I’ve already tried this. I finally figured out how to disassemble the R earphone assembly today. The PM driver circuit was open. I couldn't believe how CHEAP these cans were built! The hole driver case is made out of cheap plastic with a thin aluminum...- Perpendicular

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
Reaching out to any members here that have, or still own, the Oppo PM-3 headphones. I’m a Dis Vet that is confined to laying in bed most of my days. I purchased my PM-3s 7 years ago and use them a LOT. Recently, the left channel died and I wrote them off for dead😕😔. I pulled them out today...- Perpendicular

Review - AGPTEK Lossless MP3 Player
Just an FYI, concerning VERY low priced lossless MP3 player: Just bought an AGPTEK M07 for my 12yr. Old daughters and have to say the audio output is impressive for $27.00! I peruse many, many options before settling on this model. Ordered from Amazon Prime and just got done going thru them for...- Perpendicular

On Ear Headphones for 100$
I actually purchased a pair of these, when the "pistachio" colored variety were selling for $69.99. After reading many consumer reviews, from many different sources, I decided to go ahead and give them a shot. I had a pair of OTE headphones that had broken and needed a new pair anyway. I can...- Perpendicular

The Modern Progressive Rock Appreciation Thread.
My favorite music is Progressive Rock & Modern...aka...Neo Progressive Rock. Of the newer Progressive Rock, this would be my list of favorite & most listened to: Anything Steven Wilson is associated with, such as Porcupine Tree, No Man, Blackfield, & all his solo efforts. The guy is a genius...- Perpendicular

New Steven Wilson album in February!
This is awesome news! Thanks for the heads-up. The Raven that Refused to Sing was my favorite recording, last year. It is one of the best albums of the last decade, IMHO. He assembled such a killer line up of musicians, it made the fact that Alan Parsons mixed & helped Produce it the icing on...- Perpendicular

NuForce HP-800 ???
CONTINUED due to shaky hand: S.Wilson had complete control over the video and audio engineering & production of it, and it literally sets a new standard for Concert Quality production & mixing! Best Live Concert Blu-ray I have ever viewed/heard! He masters the art of capturing all the members in...- Perpendicular

NuForce HP-800 ???
I realize most of you are veterans on this board. I have a health issue that prevents me from contributing as much as would like. Involves Chronic Pain and fingers get tired & painful, so it takes a while to type anything on my iPod touch and then numbness, followed by very intense pain, so I...- Perpendicular

Thinking about upgrading headphones (~$400 or less)
I have not had a chance to audition the Senny Momentums, but have owned several pair of different Sennheiser models in the past. The 595's were very good overall (they also did not need amps to get good clean audio out of them and were very comfy, so I am guessing the Momentums are very good...- Perpendicular

ONKYO Headphones?
I may be mistaken but at least with amplifiers aren't they just rebranded Pioneer? Same may hold true of their headphones. Sorry to burst your reality bubble, but Onkyo Amps are not just, I think you mean relabeled, Pioneers. They are their own entity! As far as Onkyo coming out with Cans...- Perpendicular

Best Headphone under $200?
Nuforce HP-800's $149.00. They also make very good quality Headamps/DACS! They just a sale on some of them, not sure what in there now? You can get an entry level ICON amp/DAC for less than $100 and a refurbished one, if available, for even less. You don't necessarily need an amp for them, but...- Perpendicular

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
So your saying the sound of the Momentum is boxy? All I meant by airy is that that sound stage is spread out, so you can feel the realism of where the instruments are coming from. This is usually a rare accomplishment from a pair of "closed" OTE Cans. Maybe I should have used the term...- Perpendicular

Thinking about upgrading headphones (~$400 or less)
Just wanted to add that I just purchased a pair of Nuforce HP-800's and have not quite broke them in yet, due to a lingering ear infection, but for $149.00, they are a steel! Worth 2 if not 3 X's that compared to others. Plus they also make some of the most accurate, jitter free headphone...- Perpendicular

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
Very nice review and look very awesome. It is funny, but the ear cups look just like the Nuforce HP-800's I just purchased! If they are even close, the cover surrounding the foam/etc underneath feel very eerily like REAL skin. Uncanny! But, they really feel too comfy, considering Nuforce uses...- Perpendicular

Best Headphones for $35 that juggle comfort and quality?
I would strongly agree with a few members that mentioned the Koss PortaPro's. a very good investment and all around great open sound. But, if you willing to give earphones (fit in your ear canal) a try the Nuforce NE-770x's are an even better option and I'll let you know why, IMHO. I have...- Perpendicular

The Case for New Manufacturers of Good Cans!
winenerd, you are soooooo correct! My illness is very much neurological based also! One of the most painful maladies I deal with is called Post Herpetic Neurolgia (massively severe pain from a Shingles breakout I had in my early 30's). No scabs or rashes, lucky me, right? The Case for New Manufacturers of Good Cans!
I want to start this off by letting everyone know that even though, I am new to this Audiophile Forum, I have belonged to many others, covering a wide array (HT, Video innovations, etc..). I also realize that headphone (cans) are a very relative subject, when it comes to individual audio tastes...- Perpendicular
