Now if only someone would come up with a suspension headband mod for these to further mimic the MDR-F1..

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

So I finally decided to get these, but.. did anyone else buying them from that one ebay guy get the box ripped open in the front? Mine came in with a large tear right where the headphones lie behind it, and taped over, almost as if someone ripped it open, took out the headphones, then put them...

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

How's the top of the headband pressure on these? I can usually only tolerate wide suspension headbands or AT's wing system, while something like the Beyer headbands give me an instant headache at the top of my thinkbox :(

    Pioneer SE-A1000, anyone have these?

I have them currently. Extremely comfortable, as long as you don't make sudden movements. Headband gets quite twisty with time, having to figure out which way to rewind it. After a few hours some brief ear pain may (ymmv) result due to the pads being slightly shallow, even though the diameter of...

The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon, CyberX, Qpad Thread

While perusing the takstar lineup, I noticed these odd things:   http://www.takstar.com/eng/view.asp?id=438   57mm drivers Also available with a mic (TS-511M).   The headset version actually makes me intrigued as I happen to need a new one for work.. but who knows if they are more...

The Somic Thread--50mm driver open air full size cans pop out of nowhere, sound amazing

The EFI82MT can also be found stateside as the Soniq SH900, it seems. At a massive markup.

Open headphones that are actually open?

I'm referring to at least a design that lacks any foam inside the enclosure that insulates the ear from the external air. Some examples:   Sony MDR-F1 Sony MDR-MA900 (partially) Aiwa HP-AK100 AKG K1000 (lawl)   Are there any others to speak of?

Quote: Curious how you would compare them to the 2050 in sound quality and to others in terms of comfort. It'd cost more for me to get the 671s, but I'd rather go that route if they are more comfortable as I spend many hours a day in headphones.

    Asus Xonar DG with AD700

I use AD700s with onboard audio (ALC889), and it sounds great without any problems. It's dead silent at maximum volume regardless of what goes on inside my PC. All onboard is not made identical, so generalizations about it are pretty old school. If you have a properly implemented ALC889 or...

    *Noob missile inbound*

One other option of potential interest is a professional audio interface. It does all the mixing internally, including that of computer audio, so you can digitally feed multiple pc outputs to it, along with hardware inputs. TC Electronics Impact Twin is one I've been eyeing myself for other...

You can put it on a desk as it has feet, at which point the rack mount border becomes an aesthetic thing. There's not much else out there with a graphic eq built in that's a reasonable size and cost. Mackie ProFX8, perhaps. It's hard to say without knowing what you need, exactly in terms of...

    *Noob missile inbound*

Yes, there are mixers that come with an EQ, as well as effects if you want them, depending on the amount of $$ you want to spend. Also of consideration is phantom power if you ever want to hook up a good mic to it. One can easily spend $500+ on a mixer that incorporates all of that. One example...

    *Noob missile inbound*

A mixer combines multiple audio sources, with varying levels (if wanted), into one output. However, most mixers can actually send this output to three places simultaneously at least, which is to main out, 2 track out, and headphones (monitor). Just clarifying what you'd want a mixer for.  ...

    Figuring out my Computer Audio???

Quote: The e10 is a great dac and amp for the money, though I don't know how it does past 300 ohms. I am of the firm opinion that expensive cables are all about psychoaucoustics (especially digital ones), but obviously opinions differ. There's only two factors that I consider important...

    Figuring out my Computer Audio???

I'd just get a fiio E10, and you probably already have a way of connecting 3.5mm line out on it to your speakers. Note that you don't actually need an amp for AD700s. Don't bother with the cable juju (except length/awg considerations) unless you have a way to do double blind testing; grab cables...

How do I properly mix multiple inputs?

Do not use a splitter backwards. It's a bit of a nono. Mixers are definitely overkill feature wise for what you need, but there's actually not much else that's cheaper that's also reasonable quality. It's funny how you can get exactly what you would want (very few features), but only at higher...

How do I properly mix multiple inputs?

Something along the lines of this. You'll also need those cables listed under frequently bought together - the inputs you want for each line on a mixer are 2x 1/4", for the left and right channels. Output can be either the same 2x 1/4" L/R or 2x RCA L/R.

How do I properly mix multiple inputs?

Quote:   If you're doing it externally, you'll probably wind up worrying/obsessing about potential quality loss (YMMV). I don't, so I used a vanilla audio mixer, which is nice since it gives me hardware knobs for controlling IO levels. You'll be taking in line level inputs from your two...

I converted a file to FLAC the first time, it sounds better, am I imagining it?

Simple - ABX them using something like a foobar plugin. Note that there are apparently no real good ABX tools for mac, so you'll need a windows box. Don't bother with comparing lossless formats - they are identical (all other factors being the same, like decode speed, etc).
