Review by 'fjhuerta' on item 'Samsung AKG OEM In Ear Headphones'
For a bundled OEM headphone, I can't help but shake my head and wonder how much I've enjoyed them. I actually prefer them, to the Triple and Quad drivers from 1More. They fall short only of my Dunu-1000s and Master and Dynamic earbuds, and very short of my AKG N20 - BUT for what they are, they...- fjhuerta

1MORE H1707 Triple-Driver Over Ear
Between this mod, and cutting the inner foam strips so that they only cover the piezo driver, these headphones just reached a while new level of awesomeness. Thanks!!!!- fjhuerta

LG V20 Sound Quality
It's 2019, and I'm still enjoying my V20 as if I had bought it yesterday. Nevertheless, a Galaxy S9 with Dolby Atmos installed, and non-demanding headphones, is awfully close to it (or even suprasses it, with Dolby enabled). Sure, this beast can power almost any headphone you throw at it, but...- fjhuerta

I'm happy. I got rid of the Fiio X5 III and the Nuforce Primo8. Never again. I'll now listen to everything myself before buying it.- fjhuerta

Not the OP, but I can answer this. Buying the perfect solution from day one is pretty hard, since you need to try differentthings before settling. In my case, I did buy the perfect solution from day one - my Sennheiser HD-580 are as close to perfection as I could ever want them to be. Sure, my...- fjhuerta

No. I actually like reviews where the reviewer isn't a paid shill. Or when the reviewer doesn't write like a 14 year old. Or when he doesn't fawn over a piece of garbage just because the rest of Head-fi does. I don't care if a reviewer says something bad about my gear. If someone like Tyll...- fjhuerta

DBT? Did you measure for any difference? Were you able to reliably detect any difference while blind testing? If you did, call Randi and ask him to take the million dollar challenge. Otherwise, it's just your opinion / bias. And that's exactly the problem I'm talking about. You are part of a...- fjhuerta

I'd expect to find things that can be proven. As in: 1) Nobody, and I mean *nobody* can hear differences between cables. The Great Randi had the 1 million dollar challenge for anyone who could prove cables sound different. Nobody could beat his challenge. Every single test ever done (DBT) has...- fjhuerta

Now that you mention it, my favorite headphones are the Sennheiser HD-600 and the Etymotic ER-4SR. I started my collection with the HD-580 and the ER-4S. So, you are right. I never found anything better, and I merely updated my gear. The rest of my headphones could die a fiery death tomorrow and...- fjhuerta

This is a strange moment for me. I used to trust HeadWize. I got my Ety ER-4S because of it. And my AKG 501s. Now I realize times have changed, and that close knit community is now full of people with no idea what they are talking about, bias, or hidden motives. It's time to stop trusting...- fjhuerta

Reviewer rate highly > More equipment received for reviews > more higher value equipment received for reviews. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/how-can-i-trust-head-fi-reviews.744389/page-8 I'm an objectivist, and I agree with your assesment. 1) I find differences between amps and digital...- fjhuerta

The Quads are nowhere near what a $220+ in ear should sound like. The AKG N20's smoke them, and they are $80+ I did own the Triple Drivers, and thought they were OK for their price. I actually liked them more than the Quads.- fjhuerta

Preface. I bought a set of $500 Primo8 by Nuforce, because of reviews posted here, and other places. They absolutely SUCK to the nth degree. I also bought a set of Quad Drivers from 1More, and some Dunu Titans. I've been positively underwhelmed by their sound. I remember a time when...- fjhuerta

Review by 'fjhuerta' on item 'Nuforce Primo 8'
Lately, I've been reading praise after praise heaped upon pieces of garbage here that don't deserve any accolades at all. It's here, and it's everywhere. And they are always prefaced by "I got these from the manufacturer in an exchange for an unbiased review..." Ha. Bull. Why do you think...- fjhuerta

LG V20 Sound Quality
Sold the LG V20 again. It's an extraodinary phone, and an amazing DAC, but I grew tired of using impedance adapters. Fiio X5 iii won this one.- fjhuerta

LG V20 Sound Quality
It's because of the wow factor. Remember I said that? I have them in my HT. They have very strong bass response, as you well noted, and their tweeters are bright and sparkly. This is exactly what you want on a HT. For hi - fi listening, they do kinda suck. They have a suck-out in the midrange...- fjhuerta

LG V20 Sound Quality
The things you are describing cannot be explained by using two healthy devices with EQ set as flat. "Near as much oompf", "you can feel 3 of these with the HTC", etc. sound as if you had bass levels 6 dB or more higher on the HTC. I bet you couldn't hear this much difference between a midrange...- fjhuerta

LG V20 Sound Quality
If you don't have a terrific headphone, the V20 doesn't make much sense. It's a great phone, but many other phones are as good as, or better. The real strength of this unit is its Quad DAC and headphone amp!- fjhuerta

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
I just loaded Neutron on the X5 iii, and used the EQ curve on it. With an A5 amp, the Cypher cable is history. These are incredibly powerful and dynamic. I hesitate to say I like them more than my Ety ER4-SR (since those are un-eq'd), but they are currently my go to headphone. I just love them...- fjhuerta

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
I think I answered that before... you need to trick the V20 into External line out mode. Else there's too much EQ for the voltage output available. I can't imagine how the V20 would play into the Audeze if it used its full 2V output.- fjhuerta

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
IMHO, anyone listening to the iSines without EQ is basically throwing their money away. There's a reason why these headphones need extreme amounts of EQ... because they sound like top of the line units when its applied.- fjhuerta

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
That was it. The V20 wasn't kicking into a higher power mode. I did the usual trick (added a short extension cable) and it went into line out mode. I wish I could trick it into high impedance mode. As it is, it's now perfect (although still a bit underpowered, compared to the Cypher).- fjhuerta
