iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

To be sure I just tested them side by side with a frequency tone. I’m shocked... as honestly, they are neck and neck with bass extension. Both the E5000 and IT00 make my head shake at 20hz. At 15hz my ears lose the ability to hear the bass but I can still feel it. Kudos to ibasso - this is no...

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

I have have listened to them both side by side and definitely have the opposite opinion. The IT00 sound much better to me. I always disliked the blons sloppy and boosted mid bass. I find it very distracting. The IT00‘s bass is boosted but it sounds linear. There’s no mid bass bloat. It also...

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

I disagree about the E5000 having lesser sub bass extension. To my ears they hit lower than the IT00 with bass that has more definition, texture and detail. Unfortunately it’s also more boosted, so while I think the bass is much better quality, I actually prefer the signature of the IT00. You...

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

I’m still enjoying my IT00 immensely. I can’t imagine any other earphone at this price point sounding better than this (though I’m open to being proved wrong). That said, earlier in the thread a few people mentioned that they would be happy with the IT00 even if they were $300. I wouldn’t. The...

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

In terms of signatures, yes, I think they do complement eachother. For me the Starfields are great for relaxing at night while the IT00 are perfect for walking or cycling. Tonally the Starfields sound more natural but the coloured IT00 sound more fun. In terms of technicalities, however, I think...

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

Agreed. They are 2 completely different earphones. The Starfield are a smooth and relaxing set that politely invite you into the music. The IT00 have a much more exciting and involving approach that somehow avoids being aggressive. I really like this guy but don’t personally put value in his...

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

I can confirm that this is an excellent pairing. The IT00 is an easy set to drive regardless of source, but the dx160 really opens up the soundstage and improves extension at both ends. That’s interesting. I’m perceiving the IT00 to reach lower than the BLON-03 while also being quicker and...

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

I’m trying not to comment too much as it’s such early days... but it’s been clear from onset that these perform way above their asking price.

iBasso IT00 and AM05 Two very different IEMs with one purpose, to Enjoy the Music!

Recently received the IT00. I‘m immediately impressed by their balance and tonality. It’s a fun signature for sure. Very engaging but not at the expense of clarity and separation. I found the mid bass hump of the blons very annoying but was left wanting for bass on the Starfields. The IT00 seem...

Thanks for all your responses regarding congestion (or lack of) guys. Perceiving only minimal congestion when coming from the Solaris 2020 sounds very impressive indeed. I’ve ordered a pair.

How does the IT00 cope with fast and complex passages of songs? This is one of the few faults of the Starfield for me. It’s prone to sounding chaotic and congested when too much is going on. This is where the cheaper cost of these sets becomes apparent.

    Oriveti OH300 + OH500 (3/5 driver hybrid IEM's) Thread

Thanks buonassi, I’ll give that a try. I’ve spent a lot more time with the spiral dots on the OH500 now. My first set were really comfortable but the seal was just short of perfect. The low end just wasn’t putting out what I knew it was capable of. So I ordered some medium / large and found my...

Thanks for the info! Looks like the E4000 is next on my list 🙂 This is really helpful, thank you. I didn’t know that Final supplied alternative tips. The adjustment to the signature that you’ve described sounds perfect for my tastes. I just ordered some of the E-type clear tips (without red...

I’ve been using the E5000 for around 1 week now. I can see why people falls in love with these. Bass is very impressive in both depth and speed. There’s far too much of it for my tastes... but I can overlook this due to beautifully natural tone of the mids. Timbre is exceptional. I actually...

I think you’re probably right buonassi. My spiral dots arrived. They definitely take the oh500 to the next level in as far as I can hear. Spaciousness, separation and imaging are breathtaking. I’m astounded by the amount of information and details that are offered up. It’s actually quite...

I’ve been very impressed by the longevity of this thread and the amount of positive reviews. This series appears to stand the test of time. I’ve therefore ordered a refurbished pair of E5000 for £125. Impressions to follow.

Dx160 users, have you experimented with low gain and high gain mode? What are your impressions? Low gain is more than enough to drive the oh500 (even a smart phone will have more than enough drive) but I’m interested in how it changes the signature. At equal volume high gain sounds more punchy...

    ThieAudio Legacy Series IEMs

Hi guys, how do the L3 cope when tracks gets really complex and busy? I’m a huge fan of the Starfields but have to say that this is their one true weaknesses. Their excellent separation just can’t cope when the music gets particularly fast or hectic. Regarding the dx160: it’s a truly excellent...

Spiral does now ordered. Thanks. That looks like a decent cable for an excellent price. I quite like the stock cable, actually. Stock cables have come a long way since I’ve been away from Head Fi. That said, I have a Black Widow on order 😂 I’m big fan of Toxic cables but had to sell my...

Thanks @buonassi and thanks @F700 for giving me a great deal on these. I totally agree on the treble, bounassi. I’m quite treble sensitive and can’t tolerate hotness or brightness. I also can’t stand roll of or lack of definition. The oh500’s subtle twin peaks at 6KHz and 8KHz make it sound...

I should add that tips change the signature drastically. Even the included tips. I’m using the black wide bores for the most balanced sound. I’ve tried spin fits and they turn the oh500 into a very warm and bassy iem.

I wish I could help you there but I’ve not heard either of the iems. The main competitor to the oh500 in this price range seems to be the DK-3001 pro. From what I’ve read that has a similarly smooth and natural signature but with less sub-bass emphasis and more mid bass emphasis. I’m not a bass...

I’ve not heard the Legacy 9 as was put off by reviews saying how bassy it was. The oh500 is quite a linear sound. I’ve spent almost a week with the oh500 now and honestly astounded by it’s strong balance and clean tone. To my ears it’s a warm, smooth and mildly W-shaped sound. Timbre is...
