I was wondering because the Senns have that stupid plastic headband and you can't bend that thing for anything. It always springs right back. In fact, I think I can feel it getting tighter as I type. Ouch! So yeah. I've read so much about Grados and they really do seem just about ideal for...- Albatross05

OK...what about Grado SR80s? I know they're supraaural and some people say they're not comfortable but I don't see how they could grip your ears as tight as the 497s. They seem to be universally revered and only a few people don't seem to like 'em. And even those who don't like 'em usually still...- Albatross05

Stealth - Thank you for your patience and trying to help (along with everyone else). I really appreciate it. I was thinking that maybe I should just go ahead and get the ones I really want and if I absolutely have to have amplification, I could get that a little later on. So. I was...- Albatross05

OK. Let me see if I can put this question the right way. I like to listen at moderate volume levels. I have tinnitus so I can't listen really loud anyway and if it gets too loud, I tend to get fatigued pretty quickly. However, it bothers me if I have to set my volume control near max to get...- Albatross05

Well, I actually don't worry about how they look. Comfort is the main factor (well, sound is big too). I wear my potable around the house mostly. I just like to use it because I'm not connected to anything and can move freely about. So. Would the 555 be a better choice than the 595 if I...- Albatross05

If anyone knows, how do the 595s do with portables unamped? I could possibly afford them.- Albatross05

Thanks. The only problem with that is that my local Guitar Center doesn't accept returns unless the headphones are defective. I don't know if I want to take that kind of chance or not. I bought a set from them on impulse a while back and ended up hating them.- Albatross05

Ok.....this might be a little lengthy but I'll try and keep it down to just the necessary info. I need some cans for under $170. ($USD) Sounds simple. Right? Well, first of all, they cannot be IEMs, Canalphones, whatever. If they go in your ears, I can't use them. Here are some of my other...- Albatross05

Hey, HeadRoom, you need to ....
These might have been mentioned but it would be nice if - 1. Headroom's reviews weren't quite so generic and were a little more in-depth (not necessarily more technical so us dummies could grasp them ). Sometimes, I have a hard time figuring out whether you guys really like a headphone or...- Albatross05

My Very FIRST Mod! Franken PhilKoss (NO 56K!)
That's a pretty nice looking mod. Sound is all important, though. I've found blue tack has a much better effect on the sound than any kind of foam or cotton or whatever. Anytime I ever tried using foam or cotton balls (even tiny amounts of it) it just seemed to dull the mids and highs...- Albatross05

Homemade Foam Ear Tips for IEMs
Well, basically, I wasn't able to get a perfect fit with any foamie in my right ear. I have no idea why but there always seemed to be a gap somewhere near the bottom of my ear. Sometimes, if I inserted them and stayed pretty still, the seal would last but if I took a drink or something it would...- Albatross05

How can you tell you are listening at a safe volume?
One thing is for certain. You should never try and rely on whether or not you experience pain or discomfort as any kind of indicator. I've heard things that were so loud it was almost painful before but those things were extremely loud. Hearing damage with headphones occurs because you are...- Albatross05

firefox is oozing all over the place
I'm sure mine is using more memory because I have a few add-ons that I refuse to do without (The session fix one I just can't live without). But I don't really mind. As long as it's stable.- Albatross05

Are you a videophile aswell as a audiophile?
I would identify myself as a videophile who's managed to resist his urges (thus far). Mostly because I can't afford to buy the stuff. If I could afford it, I'd have a screen the size of my wall or something.- Albatross05

Tinnitus Getting Worse
OK. So. I've been listening to headphones for at least half of my life (I'm in my early 30s). I have used all kinds of headphones from those cheap deals that used to come with Sony cassette Walkmans to the circumaural ones. The only kind I haven't used is canal phones and earbuds. That is...- Albatross05
