Considering removal of DACMagic from system and using XONAR STX in its place. Opinions?
I've been thinking of upgrading my PC to use a XONAR STX. Since it has RCA connectors, I was thinking I could just remove the DACMagic from the equation and connect the STX directly to my headphone tube amp (or an integrated amp). Another reason I'm doing this is to try & cut down on the...- Twitchy_one

Does Macbook Pro and DacMagic through USB create a stutter effect on the sound?
Is anyone using a Macbook Pro and moving the sound through the Cambridge DacMagic by USB? I'd like to know if when you move the mouse or open a page or use the scroll bar, if it creates a bad stutter effect to the sound. I currently own a Xitel USB-to-digital/analog device & when I...- Twitchy_one

Macbook Pro optical out at 48khz? Can it be down-sampled to CD 44.1?
I got a really strange issue here. I have a USB to optical converter & when I plug that into my TDK cd-player it'll record just fine. However, if I plug the optical output directly out of my MBP into the TDK, it will not record. At first I thought my TDK was just dead, but I went back...- Twitchy_one

Juli@'s Directwire feature
Hello All, Has anyone tried using the Directwire feature of the Juli@ sound card? How well does it work? Is it noisy or purely digital as it claims when passing the sound through a Directwire software app? I'd be interested to read what anybody is doing with it, feature-wise, as a test, or...- Twitchy_one

noob question: surface mount vs through-the-hole capacitors
Hi All, I was looking at trying to replace some capacitors on an Auzentech sound card as a future project, however I've found that the caps on the Auzentech are surface mount. If you get Black Gate caps, how do you put them on the sound card? What needs to be done to make it work or do...- Twitchy_one

Noob question: Auzentech capacitor replacement
Hello Head-fiers, I was wondering if anyone could tell me which capacitors on this sound card would be best replaced by an audiophile grade capacitor such as a Black Gate or other good brand. Thanks, Twitchy_one- Twitchy_one

Foobar for Mac?
I was surprised not to see a Foobar for Mac. Is there a reason it hasn't been ported or did I just miss the google results? I don't actually own a Mac, but I was thinking about getting a Mac laptop for music & so on, but also want the ability to play all the stuff that usually shows up on...- Twitchy_one

Which sound card has the best optical out?
I was just wondering if there were any opinions on this or if it actually mattered. I was basically wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the best sound card that has an optical out (or coax if optical isn't available) that is considered one of high quality. Thanks, Twitchy_one- Twitchy_one

Noob question: capacitors
I've been reading a few threads about mods & I frequently see that many people will change out a given capacitor(s) on their DAC, soundcard, amp, etc with one of a much larger uF. Some even point to Vitamin Q, which seem to be film capacitors, being placed where an electrolytic capacitor...- Twitchy_one

tube headphone amp issue
Hi All, I have this hybrid head tube amp custom made but based on the Pete Millet design. The thing I've noticed is that the sound for vocals always plays more pronounced on the right side. If I play instrumentals, I don't notice any issues with the balance, as least nothing really...- Twitchy_one

DSM-320 D-Link Media Lounge anyone?
Hi All, I've ordered, but not yet received, a Media Lounge. The main reason I'm getting it is because I need a way to play Rhapsody on my stereo system & I wanted a nice looking component to do the job. I wasn't interested in the squeezebox or rokulab version as I wasn't interested in...- Twitchy_one
