Building My First Stereo for ~$800
As far as budget integrated amps are concerned I've heard good things about the Norh SE 9. That is if you're looking interested in a tube amp. Also, if you're not afraid of a little DIY can get a lot for your money building speakers. If you're not good at the woodworking you may want to check...- jcmkk

1st-ever Kansas City Meet!
I'd definitely be up for it. I don't have a lot of gear to look forward too though. I could bring my AKG 271S cans (most likely with a ZU cable by then), Headsave Pimeta amp, and NAD C521BEE CD player. I could have some more gear by then too, but don't count on it.- jcmkk

what do you guys think of rap?
I'm a big fan of almost all of the underground artists mentioned so far. I'd like to add the seemingly overlooked (at least in this thread) mainstreem hip hop group Outkast. -
Music to sleep to
I recommend Nick Drake's Pink Moon. A very relaxing album. -
Anyone out there in Kansas City??
Just found this thread. You can add me to the list of headfiers that would attend a meet. I live in Gladstone so I could easily attend about any meet in KC.- jcmkk

AKG 271 or ATH-A900?
That's why I was leaning toward the AKG's. I pretty much have to get an amp because the headphone out on my source is terrible. Well then, might as well throw the DT250-250s in the mix then. More opinions?- jcmkk

AKG 271 or ATH-A900?
I'm looking for a good pair of closed cans. I think I've narrowed it down to the AKG 271's or ATH-A900's. Anyone heard both and have an opinion? I plan on buying a Headsave Elite amp also.- jcmkk

Grado comparison with Alessandro versions
Can someone please clearify the comparison between the Grado models and the Alessandro models. My guess is that the MS-1's are the same as the SR-125's, the MS-2's are the same as the SR-325's and the MS-Pro's are the same as the RS-1's. Are there any other differences between the models? I'm...- jcmkk

Total newbie questions!
Thanks for all of the responses so far! You headphone guys seem much more helpful than the hifi guys. I must stress, however, that I'm not too worried about positioning and gaming characteristics in my headphones. I just want some that sound really good with music.- jcmkk

Total newbie questions!
I'm not really worrying about breaking the headphones. I was just thinking of it as a positive point for the Ety's. I can see your point on comfort and the ability to hear teamates while gaming. I still like the Ety's though. Does anyone have any comparisons between the Ety's and normal...- jcmkk

Total newbie questions!
I will be gaming, but not in the usual since. I usually play music in the background with sound effects playing very low in the game. What do you guys think of this solution. I get a pair of Grado SR-125's and a pair of Ety ER-6's. After reading through the forums, the Ety's really interested...- jcmkk

Total newbie questions!
As I stated before, I can spend upwards of about $300 for a total headphone system (including an amp if needed). I normally listen to classic rock, blues, jazz, and a little pop. I will most often be listening through the soundcard in my PC (audigy), or my DTS reciever. I don't really have a...- jcmkk

Total newbie questions!
Alright, first off I'm a total newbie. Sadly the only headphones that I even own are some cheap Sony MDR-CD60's. I'm getting bored with building PCs so I want to take up a new hobby. I really enjoy music so I figured that this would be a good one. To start off with, I want to get a nice set of...- jcmkk
