    First Impressions: BeyerDynamic DT 770-250

I have these (why? becuase I have every damn headphone EVER made!!!! Main points (besides obvious ''HUGE'' bass) Extreme isolation. About like the HD280's Extreme comfort-the BEST! (or only second to the HD590's-open phone) In a word: Comfy. (nice leather band, touch)

    Beyer DT250-80 vs 831

I have the 250-250 and the 831 The 831 are a little too bright but are a better headphone. The 250-250 has the slight closed-phone-boomish-bass and sounds sort of like the V6 (which is understandable as it has the same shape-closer to the ear-less ambience) note: I'm not saying the v6 has...

    Portable headphone for audiophiles?

Apparently no. There are some here who have said that they have worn hearing aids made like this all their lives without a single infection.

Senn HD-580 vs. Ety ER-4s ...Which to keep?

ER4S I hated them the first few times I put them in, cursed all you lunatics, and practically threw them away. Each successive time I tried them made a difference. Now they are my favorite. I am CONVINCED that the brain does very strange things with sound. After all: as your eyes adjust to...

    I bit the bullet!!!!

I can distinctly tell the difference between duracell and the Energizer. The Energizer sounds fast, energetic, and is good for drum music (marching band music especially) Duracell is good for industrial tunes. It's also is important to match batteries. You want to make sure each battery...

Of course all this proves nothing and is totally unconvincing (although fun reading)

Upgrade or not? I love what I've got...

You mean you've never even HEARD the HD600? Don't trust anyone who say's the HD600 is lifeless. THEY are lifeless (or should be)

Is there a loss in SQ with a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter?

It's so much fun to argue over something like this : ) I tried a solid adapter and this wasn't good at all. I suppose It's electricaly' a better idea than a cable, but it doesn't fit well. The termination point at the 1/8 side is what causes the difficulty. The 1/8 jacks suck, even for...

Is there a loss in SQ with a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter?

FWIW The grado adapter is very nice and not very expensive. I was a bit suprised at how nice it is. (for an apdapter)

Do the Ety ER4S sound the same as ER4P + adapter?

There's another thread going on now with an apparently (happy) Fixup cable user. link: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showth...8&pagenumber=2 subject: er-4p + fixup.net cable modification = heaven post by : eboychik

Do the Ety ER4S sound the same as ER4P + adapter?

Just reduced-NOT completely eliminated. It's hard to say by how much as I switched almost immediately. I'm not a good judge of this as I have not used them very much, and then only sitting in a chair for short periods.

Do the Ety ER4S sound the same as ER4P + adapter?

The Fixup ?ecable?f replacement is a vast improvement in ever way IMHO. It is lighter, far less noisy (microphonics), and even more comfortable as the cables now seem to fit my head better. Some have complained that they do not have the 45-degree angle that the stock cables have, but I much...

how viable are headphones for home theatre?

It's funny because I edited that post 1 minute after I posted it, not because I realized that it was a 'ridiculous statement?f, as you claim, but because I realized I hadn't read your post accurately. I know that the 'producers' care "very much" about the viewablilty in ?epan&scan?f...

how viable are headphones for home theatre?

The audio tracks 2 speaker mode seems to work well with headphones. I think the audio tracks on 90% of the films made in the last 15 years are really very involved even in stereo. I just watched ?eMemento?f on DVD with a pair of V6?fs, and the sound was great. I recently bought an entire...

how viable are headphones for home theatre?

I also use headphones to watch DVDs on a computer. In some ways the sound can actually benefit from headphones, as the need for very loud dynamics/volume can be a problem, for obvious reasons. On the other hand, headphones can?ft give a surround effect that the speaker system can (although it...

    Hearing protection

I have been using the silicon plugs for years and they work for me. The foam ones don’t, yet many swear by these. Attenuation claims are questionable; you should test them. I would never consider wearing muffs (especially on a hot summer day mowing the lawn) when I have the plug option...

Is the DT831 the top Beyer or not?

I’m thinking about getting the DT831. I need closed phones for home use (not portable) and the reviews at both Headphone and the Meier site say this is probably the best of the Beyer lineup. I know most everyone here would say to get either the DT770 or the 250-80/250-250 instead of the 831...

    closed cans for portable use

If anyone owns all three of these closed cans: V6/7605 HD280 250-80 Please give a comparison. I own the V6 and the HD280. I like the V6 more. Some like the HD280 more. Some say the HD280 is ‘better’ than the 25-80 (which would make the 250-80 total **** , going by this logic) I...

    closed vs open

Without reading up on this (always a mistake but -what the heck!) I would assumed the exact opposite of what the engineers at Sienhiesser told Jan. I know that I originally thought that an open speaker had no bass because it’s driver was not ‘dampened’ by the semi-sealed enclosure. I then...
