What's a good replacement for HD-497
Wow guys! I think you guys have sold me on the HD555. I won't be using the cans outside of my home environment. I'll probably stick to earbuds when I'm on the move. What is the sound signature like for the HD555.- Necroist

What's a good replacement for HD-497
Can the HD555 be able to be ran on an unamped source (ie. cdplayer/MP3)? I've looked at the HD555 price, they seem pretty close to the 580/590s, compared to those two, how does 555 fare? In terms of comfort, SR60 or HD555 or DT231 and finally, HD555 vs Grados SR-60.- Necroist

What's a good replacement for HD-497
My HD-497 seems to be of a lousy build quality, within the span of 2 years, I had to send it to repair twice, and bought a replacement cable once. I'm looking for a sensible upgrade that doesn't cost too much and is the best bang for buck. I haven't been catching up on headphone...- Necroist

Are my flac files the best possible quality?
Sorry to bring up an old thread. I'm thinking of archiving my cds right now and FLAC seems like a good way to do it. I read on this thread about compressing and all and how compression doesn't affect the sound quality at all? If I compress my FLAC to the highest, is it going to sound...- Necroist
