    AirPods Max

Hi guys, this has probably been asked here, but a quick search didn't bring up any results. Is switching to APM from a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3 going to be a substantial upgrade? I only have Apple devices, so the seamless switching I'm already aware of since I have the smaller AirPod Pro. But is...

    Sennheiser RS 165, RS 175, RS 185, RS 195 - Impressions thread

Is there a difference in sound quality between the 175 and 195? I want a close-backed headset and I'm not looking to use any of the hearing-impaired features on the 195. Usage is mostly for TV shows and movies, alone with a bit of FPS gaming.

    Best Sennheiser headset for gaming

HD598 is one that I have under consideration since a lot of people seem to love it here. However the only reason why I'm still looking for other options is due to the apparent lack of bass on the 598. What do you guys think of the DJ HD8?

DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live in Windows 10

My motherboard does have an optical out. Movies can playback digital surround sound just fine since the motherboard just passes through the audio straight to the receiver. However my motherboard doesn't do DDL or DTS Connect, which is needed for games. My original question was regarding the...

DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live in Windows 10

That is all fine, except for the fact that PC games do NOT have either dolby digital or DTS. Which is why the sound from the games first needs to be encoded in Dolby Digital or DTS Connect, sent over a digital connection, and then decoded by the AVR. Because video cards do not do any kind of...

DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live in Windows 10

My AVR doesn't have analog 5.1. And I doubt there are many in the world that do.

DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live in Windows 10

You need encoding for PC games. That's the way it is. And neither Nvidia nor AMD GPUs do DTS or Dolby Digital encoding via HDMI.

    Best Sennheiser headset for gaming

I know there are plenty of threads here for suggestions on gaming headsets, but I'm looking specifically for Sennheisers (this is all that is available here).   - Mic is not a necessity - Open back is okay with me - My Gigabyte H97 Gaming 3 motherboards claims to have a headphone amp...

DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live in Windows 10

I'm in the process of purchasing a new sound card to go along with my Yamaha 5.1 speakers and its AVR. The thing is, video games require either DTS Connect or Dolby Digital Live encoding on the sound card, and a decoder on the other end for true surround sound via optical out. I've heard on...

Best IEMs for $300 (bass and clarity)

Quote: Any dedicated sound card will provide better sound quality. But no, it's not 'worth' the investment IMO considering IE80s work fine even on an iPhone.

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

I got the IE80 for $350. My first ever high-end IEM. Previously was using Sony MDR-EX77.

Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

Quote: Do you think the Sennheiser IE80 would be a good match then? I have to decide between these two and I'll go with whatever works best with my phone (without any external amp). I don't really have any issues regarding sound quality of these two IEMs.

Need help deciding between Shure SE215, Sony XBA-2 and Phonak PFE012

Can someone tell me if the Sennheiser IE6 and IE 60 are a good match for iPhone 5? I'm really confused with this whole impedance thing. What's the suitable headphone impedance for an iPhone 5?

Need help deciding between Shure SE215, Sony XBA-2 and Phonak PFE012

Hello all. I need a bit of guidance in deciding my very first 'relatively' high end IEM to use with my iPhone 5 (without any external amp). My previous experience with good headphones has only been limited to over the ear models which include Bose AE2, Sony MDR-V6 and Sennheiser HD448.  ...

Building a HTPC and need advice on sound card

Quote: Optical or coax on 5.1 channels, since receivers have both. I wish I could use analog but the HTS that I've seen in my price range dont have analog 5.1 so I have to look for digital.    As for sound cards supporting dolby and DTS, well not all of them do. Some support dolby...

Building a HTPC and need advice on sound card

I need help in sound card selection. I've been searching non-stop for 2 days now and for the life of me cannot find a suitable card. Every Creative sound card I've searched for (Titanium, Recon etc etc) have issues with digital audio. They either don't support DTS out of the box or some other...

    I'm confused....do I need a sound card?

I like my Z5500 but its subwoofer has suddenly started making 'rattling' noises under some bass frequencies. It's the kind of noise that would come if I place something on top of the enclosure and because of the vibrations of the bass it would rattle on top. I dont think the woofer is blown or...

    I'm confused....do I need a sound card?

EAX is not needed. I've disabled it anyway. I just need to be able to output 5.1 surround to a HTS. And I've searched a few forums with people complaining that S/PDIF on this motherboard only outputs stereo to their receivers :/ Why dont they just make HTS with regular 3pin analog connectors?

    I'm confused....do I need a sound card?

Quote: Because I'm under the impression that my sound card can handle audio processing better than the DSP in my Z5500. That being said, can you confirm if the S/PDIF on my motherboard outputs 5.1 or just stereo? Because I cannot find this information anywhere

    I'm confused....do I need a sound card?

Firstly, this is the motherboard I have: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1156/P7H55V/ It has SPDIF and HDMI. Currently I'm using a Z5500 attached to Creative Soundblaster Xtreme Music through 3 pin analog connection for 5.1. The sound card doesnt have SPDIF.   Now I'm...

Does Sennheiser IE8 require an amp?

I'm looking to buy the IE8 to pair it with an iPod Touch and my cellphone (Nokia N9). I'll also use it with my macbook. What I want to know is whether I need an amp to drive these or will without amp do just fine. I know an amp will obviously help but is IE8 the kind of IEM that 'needs' an amp...

WD TV Live on Z5500. Is it a good idea?

So I have lots of HD movies on my PC and I want to watch them on my big screen LCD (1080p). There are two way to do it. Either connect a PC with X-Fi titanium soundcard and HDMI output and connect the sound card through 3 pin analog to my Z5500 and the HDMI to the LCD. The second way is to get...
