Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
That’s actually the reason I prefer the 58X. The 600 is less adept at conveying dynamics and the power of those instruments. I’ve been sometimes underwhelmed by the 600 during a piano concerto. Same for passages during Carmina Burana...especially the more dynamic parts of O Fortuna. I just...- eke2k6

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
As much as I love the HD 600, I’d argue that it’s not actually neutral. It rolls off too quickly down low to properly represent a lot of recordings. The HD58X is warmer, but to me it’s actually more *transparent* because it can offer a better fledged out low end, while retaining the mids and highs.- eke2k6

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
Given that the HD600 might be my favorite headphone of all time, I couldn't help myself when I heard reports that the HD58X was a HD600 with sub-bass. So, the HD58X Jubilee ended up being my first headphone purchase in over 2 years. I'd been doing so well, completely content. As for the sound...- eke2k6

Every now and again, I hear a song and wonder wistfully how they'd sound through the FADs. Hey James! Good to see you're still roaming the streets of Italy- eke2k6

Life After Hi-Fi
Hey guys! It's been a while. More specifically, it's been 3 years since I bought a pair of headphones, after almost 5 years and 7+ thousand posts worth of TOTL end-game IEM buying, selling, and auditioning. I just wanted to poke my head back in the forums to share my experience of what life is...- eke2k6

Fender IEM (Aurisonics) Impressions, Reviews & Discussions Thread
I pretty much have the entire lineup, and the FXA7 and ASG2.5 are neck and neck. The 2.5 sounds a bit less jagged up top though.- eke2k6

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV
Lol, I wasn't kidding when I said I was done with the merry-go-round. I still pop in and out every now and then to check if iems/daps have made any major leaps in tech. For now it looks like we still haven't. Hope you're good bro!- eke2k6

Spent the weekend at Austin City Limits. I finally got to see some of my favorite bands in concert. Mumford and Sons in particular was INCREDIBLE, and I was in the front row. It's impossible to put into words the sheer human energy at the front row of a 10,000 attendee concert, while the crowd...- eke2k6

[Review] Astell and Kern AK320 - Ramblings of a Young Old Fool.
If love to see the results of your test. As far as the recording issue, human hearing tops out at a useful dynamic range of 60db. The absolute pain threshold is 120db. Even live symphony orchestras use a max of 50db dynamic range for our hearing. Anyone who claims to be able to hear beyond...- eke2k6

[Review] Astell and Kern AK320 - Ramblings of a Young Old Fool.
No need to apologize. 1. I have to ask what you mean by the AK320 sounding "better," especially in the context of it being used as a LO. There are several potential things in play, like the OI of the LO of each device, mixed with the sensitivity of the KSE's input. I don't necessarily...- eke2k6

I miss those days too. I had virtually no idea what I was doing with a camera, so I just set it to auto and focused on interacting with the subject. Now I'm busy fussing with gear.- eke2k6

Yikes. I can't imagine trying to dial in focus with such a thin DoF https://www.keh.com/shop/canon-eos-5d-12-8-megapixel-digital-slr-camera-body-only.html Don't think twice. Just buy it. Just...buy it. The camera made me look like I knew what I was doing, even when I didn't. All...- eke2k6

Et tu, James? The sd quattro has the same sensor as the dpQ cameras, with the benefit of being an ILC. It's still not usable past ISO 800 for my purposes, and is still crop sensor. If you want a Canon, go for the original 5D. It's still incredible, and can be had for under...- eke2k6

I can't remember the last time I shot at f/4. Plus, it'll be f/6 or so DoF on APS-C sensors. Oh, I've been busy. You can kind of see the latest stuff here: www.kachieke.com I'd love any feedback you have on the site.- eke2k6

Hola! It's the main reason I stay with full frame DSLRs. My slowest lens is the 70-200 f/2.8. Apart from that, I never shoot at apertures smaller than f/2. There's just a 3D quality I enjoy in a photo with sharp in-focus areas, surrounded by areas falling out of focus- eke2k6
