B&W PX-7 se2 Wireless ANC Headphones
I just purchased the PX-7 se2 Noise cancelling wireless headphones as a Christmas present for my wife. I got them on sale from Amazon for $349. I will post a review in 1 month. I considered the Sony XM4, XM5, Bose and Technics but the B&W's have better reviews and much better build quality...- Mechnutt

iFi audio iPower X - The Official Thread
If your Zen One requires a 5v power supply, I would not use anything higher than that. There are plenty of Linear Power Supplies available from Ali Express. That's where I bought mine. Here are a few-...- Mechnutt

iFi audio iPower X - The Official Thread
I bought an iPowerX for my son's Qutest DAC. It made a very noticeable difference. The background is blacker. There is more detail and resolution and there is an increase in musicality. However, a Teradak LPS makes a further improvement and sounds better than the iPowerX. There is even more...- Mechnutt

FiiO K7 or Topping DX3 Pro+
I would get the Topping E50. I own one and it sounds much better than my Schiit Modi 3. However, it is not even in the same league as my Luxman DA-06 or Chord Qutest. It sounds muddy in comparison on my 2 high end systems. I use the E50 with a linear power supply with a Marantz 2ch receiver...- Mechnutt

Glad to help. The system that the Qutest is in, is very sensitive to changes as well. I tried a Jitterbug, made things too bright. The Qutest is very sensitive to usb cable changes and it is not subtle. Same for my reference system with my Luxman, Pass X250 amp and BAT preamp. I built a...- Mechnutt

Yes, we did. The Teradac has a little more detail but it is very close. The Teradac is being used to power a Regen and the Power X is being used for the Qutest DAC, mainly because the Regen requires around 8 volts and the Power X is 5v which the Qutest is rated for. I have no reservations...- Mechnutt

Because I read their reviews of electronics. I can't say that they never listen to electronics but if you read their reviews, there is almost never a quote about the sound. Spec's do not mean Schiit if it sounds bad.- Mechnutt

I received the iPower X today and it makes a nice improvement in the sound of the Qutest. It was well worth the money. It's improvement is similar to the Teradak LPS with a blacker background, more detail and resolution, like a veil was lifted from the music. Tomorrow I will do a head to head...- Mechnutt

I bought the iPower X and should get it today. If there is no improvement I will return it and go with an Allo Shanti or a Teradak DC-30 which are only $60 and $40 more respectively.- Mechnutt

I know how to use the site, but the way the products are presented it is confusing. I have heard others say the same thing about the web page and the way the products are presented with their descriptions. It is not cut and dry.- Mechnutt

That's what I will probably do. I will buy from Amazon or Audio Advisor. Thanks again. By the way, the ifi web site IMHO needs to be redone. I find it confusing trying to sort out the different power gear, accessories and DAC's. There is too much overlap and it is difficult to figure out...- Mechnutt

My son has a Qutest DAC that he just bought. We replaced the stock PS with my Teradak U9 LPS and the improvement is sound was stunning. We also use it to to power a Regen but the Teradak gets hot when powering both. Unfortunately they do not make the Teradak U9 any more so I am looking at the...- Mechnutt

Those guys on audioscience review never listen to the gear they measure. It is ridiculous. You have to take measurements with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, they steer a lot of naive people in the wrong direction and away from some great sounding gear.- Mechnutt

Help me choose DAC
I am leaning to the Mimby. The A21 was my amp that I used with my Magnepan 1.6's. I gave it to my son when I bought my Pass X250 amp which is truly a much better amp and takes the Maggies to a new level of pleasure. The A21 is still an excellent amp with great sound and brute power. I...- Mechnutt

Help me choose DAC
I want to buy a new DAC for my son to use in his 2ch rig-Parasound A21 amp, Pass B1 Preamp and PSB B6 speakers He will be using Bug Head as his music player. He is currently using a Dragon Fly 1.0 as his DAC. He prefers a warmer sound. I am looking at the Emotiva Big Ego and the new...- Mechnutt

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

He is currently using a Dragonfly 1.0 with a Jittebug which sounds remarkable good. Does anyone...- Mechnutt

Head phone help Please!
I would greatly appreciate some headphone advice. I bought my son a pair of Sennheiser HD 449 headphones to use with computer music and gaming. After 50 hours of burn in they are flat will little bass. I am going to sell these and buy a different set. I want to stay in the $100-120 range...- Mechnutt

Maverick Audio DAC/Amp
How do the 0627's compare to the LM4562's? The LM's were a huge upgrade to the stock OA's. The tube upgrade also made a huge difference. I bought the D-1 with the optional tube upgrade but I rolled a couple of other tubes and finally settled on one that has a warmer yet detailed and...- Mechnutt

Maverick Audio DAC/Amp
I am hoping the 0627's add more detail and dynamics without losing the air, transparency and wide sound stage of the LM4562 op amps. 0627's certainly have a unique sonic character- leaning on the slightly warmer side of neutral with good dynamics. I am really interested in seeing how they...- Mechnutt

Maverick Audio DAC/Amp
Thanks Ronni. I am going to order a pair and see how they sound in the D-1. Currently we are running it with the LM opamps and an upgraded tube. It is being used as a preamp and dac for my old Parasound A21 amp that I gave to my son. It is great as a DAC and an ok preamp. The usb section...- Mechnutt

Maverick Audio DAC/Amp
Has any one checked to see if the BP627's from Maverick are authentic? I was thinking about buying 2 pair to place in my son's D-1 and my cheap Bellari VP-129 phono preamp. Typically the 0627's go for about $35 each for a single op amp. Maverick is selling them for $30pr with a brown dog. ...- Mechnutt

Quote: When you enable the volume control, does it allow the D1+ to function as both a DAC and Preamp? I bought a D1 (and upgraded the tube and opamps) for my son but I was thinking about getting a D1+ and giving it to him ( I would take his D1 and use it with a little Dayton DTA-100a...- Mechnutt
