Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

Is it likely that I would get a warmer sound out of my MD3.2 from a Schiit Vali compared to the headphone amp in an Essence STX card? I've been comparing a Fiio E10 and the Essence STX and while the E10 definitely doesn't sound as good it gives the MD3.2 a much warmer sound which I definitely...

    new akg k323 xs

Just got a pair of these, have to say I'm impressed so far. Only thing I'm a bit worried about I guess would be build quality, they seem sturdy and well-made but they are also tiny so I bet the cables will give out soon enough.

Yeah, I've even looked at the E12 myself. Most likely one of the better choices for a portable amp at that price. Let's just leave it at that? :)

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog 3.0 - 3.2 Amp Pairing Recommendation/Discussion Thread

My thought process came from recognizing something that has been brought up before, where the conclusion was that Dan personally has said that they power the MD well but has never actually said that he personally thinks they pair well.   The qoute posted after confirms that, he says he's heard...

I had the DT770, I also love bass. I found the bass in the Mad Dog to impress much more than the DT770. Running them off an Essence STX, slightly EQed. Did yours get enough power?

Pretty sure there is a separate thread for Alpha Dog.

Thankfully we're all here for the headphones and not the spelling, and you are amazing at making headphones! :D

Just thought I shoud let you know, only have the E10 for a few days so I have to run the Mad Dog trough it. After discovering Linux had suddenly put the volume at 46% I now only need to run it at around 2-3 on volume. It definitely does not sound as good as from an STX though, but at least...

No, I mostly run them on my Essence STX. Fiio E10 would be too weak for normal use, considering max volume was needed.

With a tiny bit of EQing I'm pretty sure I am getting both more and better bass than from my DT770's, can't stop loving these headphones! :D

Definitely got pretty much normal sound level from max volume, but the difference from around 4-5 to 8 was barely anything. I got my E10 used though, could be dodgy. :p

Quite tempting to replace the E10 with one. What about an E17?

How is that E12 volume-wise? I have an E10 currently and I found the sound to be completely fine, but I have to run the amp at high gain with max volume to get decent volume on the Mad Dog. Is it the same with E12?

    Mr.Speakers Mad Dog REVIEW

Thanks, works great! Definitely adds a lot of thump in the lowend, these headphones are not for the people that want their jaw to be shaked though. Seems to me that they are just too big and sturdy to shake, cause there is a lot of bass here.   Edit: What's really impressive is how incredibly...

    Mr.Speakers Mad Dog REVIEW

Great review, was one of the things that pushed me over the edge to get them. I just have to ask, where can I find "Real Bass Exciter DSP"? I found a forum thread on google, looked very unofficial, is that the one? Would love to play around with that.

I think this thread is a good idea, tried to ask about this as well in the Mad Dog thread and didn't get much response.   Very tempted to get an Asgard 2, would there be much difference between an Asgard 2 and an Essence STX for the Mad Dog?

The best part in my opinion is that they work so well with everything I've thrown at them. No genre I've listened to so far has been disappointing on them. From bass-heavy dubstep, rap, trance to piano music to classical music to rock, whatever I feed them comes back out in amazing quality...

Tried them on my Fiio E10 that I have for my laptop, I'm actually really impressed at how well they run from this little thing. I do have the gain at high and volume knob at max, but it doesn't sound noticeably worse than my Essence STX and the bass boost makes the lower end very nice.  ...

Got mine running off an Xonar Essence STX atm, enjoying them quite a lot. Would there be any large difference getting for example a Schiit Asgard 2?

This track: http://open.spotify.com/track/0ehoKu1X3cwKz9LdAaBWxH   Not sure what word to use (Recessed?) as English is not my first language and even then I don't know that many terms when it comes to sound, but it feels almost the same as when my DSP desktop speaker system clips from too...

They are pretty damn amazing! Spent countless hours just listening to music I was previously bored of, only one track so far has sounded quite weird on them.
