Logitech USB Headset
I got this thing when I was in an online class at work several years ago and ever since I've been using it to listen to music at work. The sound is actually pretty clear over the mids and highs, though being what they are, they do lack bass. However, I was just thinking about this. I plug the...- Masonjar

Another Mahler - Disney connection
Ok, even MY KIDS could recognize that the tune from "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast was lifted from the first movement of Mahler's 3rd, and a few others across the internet have also made that connection, but the one I've most recently discovered is a little more subtle and may or may... -

The Mary Onettes
Heard a snippet of a song of theirs on Grey's Anatomy last week (season finale, in the church when Dr. Burke is going to look for Christina). Anyway, man, what a dead-on Jesus and Mary Chain sound they had. I haven't heard any more of their stuff, but from what I've read it has a similar 80's... -
XM Sattelite Radio Ad - Circle Jerks?
Ok, there's this tv ad for XM radio.. plays a bunch of different kinds of music.. the little waves change shape on the cartoon man's head. The first clip is punk. I think it's "Operation" by the Circle Jerks. I'm going to go see now if I'm right. That's cool. (ok, just verified... -
Makes my brain hurt (indie rawk on my cell phone)
Year: 1992 .. walking around with my walkman.. SLANTED AND ENCHANTED on one side of the tape, LOVELESS on the other.. totally addicted to this new music.. trying to make sense of it, not realizing that they will both be on everyone's top 10 list in 8 years.. sensing that something big is going... -
Comment/Question about Interpol video
anyone seen the video for "Evil" with the puppet. Is it just me, or did that puppet dance just like Ian Curtis, and even look like him? I wonder if that was on purpose, as some kind of nod to all the people who've said they sound like Joy Divison. Cuz I saw another video with their... -

Anyone catch Flaming Lips on Letterman??
I caught the last 20 seconds because I was over on Leno watching the hottie from the Office (rowr). Anyway, what I heard sounded really good. Wayne was actually singing in a voice we haven't heard in years... hopefully this new record will have some gonads. From what I've read so far, I'm... -

Discussion Boards for Specific Albums/Bands?
Anyone been to www.imdb.com ? it's great, there's discussion boards for almost any movie or tv show you can think of. I was just wondering if there was a website anywhere that has discussions based on specific bands, or better yet, albums.. Anyone here come across anything like that on the... -
Old New Order song in Vh1 ad
I was watching something on VH1 and they had an ad for their website (V-Spot) and the music they were playing was a remake of New Order's "Chosen Time" from MOVEMENT (didn't hear any vocals, just the tune). Very odd.. not every day you hear a remake 25 year old New Order song on TV. I wonder... -
Dead Can Dance & Joy Division
Found another Joy Division quote in a Dead Can Dance song.. From DCD's "Advent" "Turn Away on your side and dream of days to come" From JD's "Love will Tear Us Apart" "Why is the bedroom so cold, turn away on your side" It's just one of those things.. I heard the snippet... -
Help ID a rap song (has Scientist dub sample)
I was at a kids event and they were playing music, kind of a weird mix for kids, some party music, some "group dances" etc.., but anyway, one of the songs that they played was a rap song I'd never heard before, and basically, it was built around the bassline to Scientist's dub classic... -
Lose wire in Grados
The wire leading to the right side of my Grado 60's is loose right at the "Y" joint (the sound goes out when the cable is wiggled). How easy is this to repair? Looks like the joint cover is fused together, or can it be pryed apart? I love these phones and would hate losing them just because...- Masonjar

Judas Priest/Queensryche review
I saw Judas Priest and Queensryche last night on the first date of their summer tour in Cleveland. This was the first time I'd seen either band. Queensryche did quite a few older numbers, even going back to the first ep ("Queen of the Ryche/Night Rider"), a few from WARNING ("En-force","Take... -
Review of new Tchaikovsky 5th..
http://www.highfidelityreview.com/re...umber=13569094 Daniele Gatti and the Royal Philharmonic on Harmonia Mundi. Apparently this fellow went back to the score and really tried to keep to Tchaikovsky's original tempo markings. Apparently it makes for a very fresh interpretation. Can't wait to... -
sometimes 'Phones make it better
Preaching to the choir here, but.. You know that low frequency stuff that gets lost in a room or you just miss on small speakers? man, sometimes that stuff really brings out harmonies in a song that you were totally missing before. I'm listening to some old Moose and it's way more pretty and... -

The movie "Fearless" - great movie, great soundtrack
I'd like to applaud the soundtrack of this 1993 film staring Jeff Bridges, Rosie Perez and Isabella Rossellini. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...=Axtq8b5b4nsqe The soundtrack includes a movement from Gorecki's wonderful Symphony No. 3, but also includes U2's "Where The Streets Have... -
The Slint Thread
Ok folks.. time to talk about your favorite "slintastic" bands/albums. Yes, Slint were a band that recorded a very small amount of music, but made a huge impact in the world of indie and post rock in the decade that followed. I had the idea for this thread a few days ago, and I hope some folks... -
Metal fans.. anyone heard Grimfist?
I heard just one song on my old college radio station.. but damn, that was one heavy ass song. The first band that popped into my mind was Entombed, but they're must more diverse.. sort of a cross section of all the best trends in metal.. and the best of all it didn't sound Nu-metal at all.. I...
