Lose wire in Grados

The wire leading to the right side of my Grado 60's is loose right at the "Y" joint (the sound goes out when the cable is wiggled). How easy is this to repair? Looks like the joint cover is fused together, or can it be pryed apart?

I love these phones and would hate losing them just because of a loose wire.

From what I hear, this is a VERY common problem with Grados, and is only a matter of time. Assuming your headphones are out of warranty, there is a collection of info on Headwize about modding grados here:

If you don't feel up to the task, get ready to send your gear away to someone for modding. I just finished modding my own, and actually put in sub-mini jacks on the earpieces so I can swap out different cables. Might be something to look into
