    HD595 pads

They aren't on the website, but you could probably call up Sennheiser and order them directly.

    TrekStor Vibez

I was just coming home from work this morning, lamenting to myself at the lack of a real successor to my beloved Karma. Even with its broken scroll wheel and occasional lockups, I've refused to replace it. Nothing has even come close in terms of format support and interface design, in my...

    Sennheiser HD555, 595 vs 580

If it means anything to you, I prefer the HD595 to the HD650 in some ways. The HD580s sound a bit muffled to me.

connecting RCA soundcard output to a 3.5mm amp input

Yes, something exactly like that. You can find shorter (and cheaper) at your local Radio Shack.

    Gamers: X-Fi worth it?

I've got a quick question, but don't feel the need to create a whole thread for it. Does the CMSS-3D Headphone function work when using digital (coax or toslink) output? That is, could I run it to an external DAC (or the input of another soundcard) and still get the HRTF processing? And...

Some FLAC Questions from a Newb

I don't have any experience in the FLAC frontend, as I use EAC in conjunctio nwith the comandline encoder. I'm not familiar with your error with Kernel Streaming, either, as I use ASIO. But I CAN tell you that there's zero differece in sound quality at the various FLAC compression levels...

Got the HD595, Is it 50 ohm version?

It's pretty unlikely that you have the 120 ohm version unless it's a used pair originally purchased a year or more ago.

    HD 595 Amp?

Depending on the source, they don't necessarily NEED an amp, but they do cerainly benefit from one. Primarily the soundstage and bass benefits from the extra power. I use a Headsave Classic with excellent results, but since those are no longer made, I'd probably suggest a Portaphile X^3 or...

    soon to be grado_hifi?

I never really liked the HD580 or HD600, they sound like a pair of nice speakers that someone threw heavy blankets over. I much prefer the HD595 or HD650 (with appropriate amplification). I'd see if you can get hold of either for comparison.

Newbie review for newbies...Grado Earpad options:

Of the Grados I've had the pleasure of hearing, my favorite was the RS-2 using the quarter-modded 414 pads (not reversed), which also happen to be my favorite pads across the board, and the ones I find the most comfortable. Mmmm, bass.

    Which lossless format is best?

I find that Monkey's Audio (.ape) gets the best compression levels (meaning lower filesizes), but it's fairly resource intensive to encode and decode in comparison to other formats. I prefer FLAC (.flac), as it still gets pretty good compression rates and is easy to decode no matter what...

You do it to allow more headroom in using things like your volume control without losing fidelity, since you're working at a higher level of precision.
