All things Metrum Acoustics
Hey, I use the Onyx. When I reached out to Metrum they mentioned they use optical isolation on USB, which I take to mean there's an optical converter at the input. Personally I think it sounds amazing, just wondering could it be even better.- nitewulf

All things Metrum Acoustics
Hi, reaching out to Metrum owners, do you guys use any USB reclockers or USB/SPDIF converters like EITR, is there any audible improvement with Metrum dacs? It seems to me their USB implementation is very good, I'm just wondering.- nitewulf

I don't think you'll regret it. I studied the DAC 2000 a bit, I guess it used one module to decode and it was a 20 bit module, so good for 16/44.1, the Onyx has 2 DAC2 modules per channel, each of which has 2 16 bit ladders if I recall correctly, so basically 4 ladders per channel, and it can...- nitewulf

All things Metrum Acoustics
Yes, I just purchased the Onyx. Stupendous Fidelity. I would have a hard time believing anything bettering it at it's price range. I haven't heard the Yggdrasil though so can't comment on that, I'm just not a fan of OS dacs so it wasn't really in my list to buy. My reference dac was PS Audio...- nitewulf

So did anyone buy the 1541 and compare to Holo Audio Spring or any of the Denafrips models? I'm interested in a r2r dac and trying to decide what to go for.- nitewulf

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA
I have a few basic questions. Besides the default music player, what other free player can be used that has a clean, minimal interface and an easy search function? For reference, I use MediaMonkey on my computer and I like the way it scans everything and can search by ID3 tags. I still find...- nitewulf

LH Labs' gorgeous Vi Dac ( Tube + SS outputs )

Matrix Audio X-Sabre Pro
Any new word on this, or reviews/comments? I remember the original Matrix Mini from way back, and it was the sweetest sounding DAC I remember hearing at such a low price. I've been very curious about this DAC.- nitewulf
