Using Oppo UDP-205 with a balanced connection through headphones?

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping to listen to SACD's and CD's via the balanced XLR output. So you don't think there's anyway to utilize the balanced output of the UDP-205 for headphones?

Using Oppo UDP-205 with a balanced connection through headphones?

Hello, I was wondering how would I go about connecting a pair of Sony MDR-Z1R headphones to a Oppo UDP-205 via the dual 3-pin XLR Balanced Stereo Out? If that's not possible, is there anyway to connect the MDR-Z1R headphones via a balanced connection? Thanks!

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

I don't know what it was but I did as you instructed. I turned off the player than just held volume down + play then plugged in the usb cable while holding the buttons down and I heard the USB device detected sound then afterward the USB device disconnect sound. I then I heard the USB device...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Thank you for your reply! I did as you suggested and it worked! The player recognized my PC in DFU mode and I was able to run the StockRevert and then the official WM1 3.02 firmware afterwards. Not sure why this issue existed but I appreciate your help as well as the help of everyone else!

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Well it's been about a week since I've emailed Mr. Walkman and he unfortunately has not sent me a reply. Would anyone happen to know a different form of commutation aside from the provided on his official website? @Queen6 Thank you for the info about DFU mode within firmware! So you're saying...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

It does not detect any USB source when trying to use USB DAC/AMP. When plugging in my WM1A, regardless of which menu/function screen I am in, it merely charges the player as if it is connected to a power source only. When using Bluetooth Receiver, the WM1A will sometimes connect to a source...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Well, I did check on and check off the setting for "Auto Activate USB Mass Storage Device". Neither worked. I've checked Device Manager and it is not detecting any additional devices either. No sound when plugging in my WM1A to either my desktop computer or my laptop. So my only options so far...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

So do you guys think my WM1A is finished?... I would hate to think so as everything else seems to work, I just can't get the player to be recognized as a Mass Storage Device. I believe the issue to be isolated to the player itself, considering my WM1Z seems to work just find on my PC.

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Yep, I restarted the device, turned off then back on, removed SD card and did both again. I've done everything aside from the factory reset option, which would wipe the internal storage...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Playback through 3.5mm and 4.4mm work just fine. I've noticed I am unable to connect my WM1A to bluetooth sources such as my car nor can I successfully connect to my phone via Bluetooth Receiver to playback phone media via the WM1A. I did try another cable that I had from my WM1Z, and I did try...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Hello! So I've been enjoying my WM1A using Mr. Walkman's "Walkman One" firmware and haven't had a need to change the firmware or anything but I recently connected my computer and found that my WM1A is no longer detected as a USB Mass Storage device. I've tried different USB ports and a different...

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

I was wondering, considering I bought a used WM1Z, do you think that it would be a good idea to replace the battery now through Sony considering Sony might discontinue parts and labor for the WM1A(Z) line now that they are being discontinued? I would hate to try to replace the battery later on...

So does that mean if I have the TS connections on each earphone but 4.4mm on the dap side, the cable should produce a balanced signal?

Periodic Audio IEMs Mg, Ti, Be, C

Awesome! Thank you. I was looking around for cables and I ran across this post on a audio cable subreddit in which someone claims that any earphone with a ts connection can not carrey a balanced signal: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIYAudioCables/comments/kp593l/comment/ghv09f8/ Would this be true...

Thank you for the reply! I just realized the cable I linked in my post has 2x 3.5mm connections, not 2x 2.5mm ones lol. My apologies, I didn't double check it. Would you say any 2x 2.5mm male to 1x 4.4mm male would work with the newly revised cable connector? I found this one which I believe is...

Thank you so much for providing a removeable cables to the entire line up of earphones! I know that it is stated in this thread that you don't believe balanced would improve sound but I own a Sony WM1A and WM1Z that both utilize a 4.4mm output for optimum listening and I was wondering, would...

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

Yeah, I noticed that when I insert my balanced cable into WM1A, there is perceivably less play, almost non existent tbh when compared to my WM1Z. I'm just going to assume it's because my WM1Z has more use out of that port.

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

So I did get a WM1Z off of eBay used not too long ago, but I was wondering, is it normal for both 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm unabalanced ports to be a little "loose". I notice that when I move the earphone jack while inserted inside either port, there appears to be a little bit of play (the jack...

Thank you for your replies! I appreciate the suggestions. I was actually looking at getting the IER-Z1R before I purchased the 1Z but when I saw it for sale for $1300 on eBay my impulses got the better of me lol. Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

I feel like I've reached a roadblock lol... I can't really find any Walkman One tuning combination with region/DAC Initialization on my WM1Z, that matches the sound of my WM1A (Walkman One, SIG=0, REG=MX3, PMV=2)... I literally just bought this WM1Z and I feel like I wasted my money lmao...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Yea I don't know lol, maybe it's the way the sound from these player's mesh with the production of the music and the ear/headphone that is used. I feel kinda stupid for posting about it as it's kinda hard to really put my finger on what makes me perceive this strange difference, but I do...

    Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

So I have a question for those with a WM1Z and WM1A with Mr. Walkman's latest Walkman One firmware. So I tried the external tuning of "Neutral/Warm" (0) with region MX3 on both these players with the BLON BL-03 earphones in balanced mode for both players, and I noticed that strangely enough my...
