AudioT Technica ATH-AD900X replacement jack
Wires are insulated, not nice to work with. Depending on your equipment – you can use soldering pot, or solder flux and iron with hot solder. Some smoke and smell occurs – there's plastic involved. White thing is rope to structurally strenghten tiny wire. It might be possible to separate it and...- enregistree

Resistor values for in-line attenuators?
Attenuation makes sense for vintage gear, or generally if you happen to have too much gain in the system… I suggest that you add 4k7 in series at the load end of the cable and 5k6 between signal and ground for –6dB (use 6k8 & 2k4 for –12dB). The math behind it can be done with online voltage...- enregistree

Yamaha MusicCast!
I use Yamaha as streamer source, with ethernet/DLNA (and airplay). Quick response, and it is stable. Volume level is fixed, and is not changed by controller buttons. Musiccast app – not so much, only for initial setting of the streamer. I agree that the app is awesome. BTW the app just got...- enregistree

Audeze LCD-1
I had look at linked adapter and balanced cable connected to that adapter and to DAC will work. Dual jack looks like proprietary solution from Mytek. However, mechanical connections add up with adapters. What about dual 1/4 cable that connects DAC and 'phones directly?- enregistree

Selecting wire for IEM cables
Cable impedance is important for low impedance IEMs, but wire size and flexibility is important. 20AWG fine strand silicone wire is largest that can be used (and maybe it is already too thick and heavy), with OD of 1.5mm. Smaller wire means too much resistance/impedance added to amp ZOUT.- enregistree

Jacks from Neutrik (right angle; Neutrik – not Rean sub brand). Wire/cable does not matter much as it will be probably < 10 cm. Any stranded copper or silvered copper with 3 wires, flexible even at low temperatures.- enregistree

Repairing cable for Beyerdynamic DT990 (Help me pls)
Pulling metal tabs definitely broke tiny speaker wire that was originally soldered to it – no way to repair it. The only option is to get spare (new) headphone driver for your left channel. The Apple diyMod: My Take on the Famous iMod [56k killer] Featuring 3G, 4G, 5G and nano 1G!
This could be interesting years ago, but now it makes no sense… You can get digital out from any iphone or current ipod (touch) without hacking the device. You can not get digital out from any non-touch iPod – 5G (video), classic, or older. So ipod 5G with analog output modification used to be...- enregistree

Best headphone connector type (balanced)
My preferred way is to hardwire headphones with ~ 1.5m long cable terminated with single 4-pin Tiny XLR (Neutrik-Rean) connector at amplifier end. Then make long or short adapter cables if needed (for regular size 4-pin XLR or unbalanced jacks) – with male connector. You end up with connectors...- enregistree
