Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread
I agree, but the price/performance of the audio world has always been ridiculous. At least they keep me satisfied enough to avoid $2k CIEMS for now.- DrGroove

Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread
I just want to say that I've recently acquired the Flare R2Pro, which I consider to be a direct upgrade from the tenore. It has the same sort of sound signature, but the sub bass is there, sound stage is a little better, clarity is a little better, etc. It also has the same form factor and fits...- DrGroove

Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread
I can't comment on the V2, but the V3 is in a lower tier than the tenore IMO. It just doesn't have the clarity, and has too much bass. Throwing in my two cents, I've had the tenore for almost a year now and still love them to death with stock tips. I've tried upgrading and just end up...- DrGroove

EarWerkz Legend R. 8 Driver, 7-Way, 6-Crossover Flagship | discussion thread
My god, that sounds exactly like what I've been looking for. It's hard to find quality sub bass without a mid bass hump and compromised mids. Thanks.- DrGroove

EarWerkz Legend R. 8 Driver, 7-Way, 6-Crossover Flagship | discussion thread
Does the Legend R or Omega have the same house sound as the supra? I have a custom supra that I find has good bass (a bit rolled off), pretty good highs, and nice and accurate (but thick) mids. Sometimes the mids seem so thick that they almost sound muddy to me. Is it possible that this is due...- DrGroove

[REVIEW] Future Sonics Spectrum Series: G10 and impressions thread
Do you mean the FS beige foamies or the shure yellow foamies? I used both on my MG7 and agree that they are much better than other tips.- DrGroove

Entry level CIEM $400-600
I'm looking to make my first CIEM purchase soon and I'd like some suggestions and to make sure I don't miss any smaller companies. What I'm looking for is a neutralish IEM with good sub-bass extension, clear transparent mids, flat treble, not a "fun" IEM. A flat/even low end is also important...- DrGroove

Trying to understand TOTL IEMs
Thanks so much for the detailed responses guys. Some takeaways I'm getting are that multiple phase aligned drivers will not increase distortion, and are used to increase volume of the of the driver's range while reducing stress on a single driver. This way the system can have lower...- DrGroove

Trying to understand TOTL IEMs
I'm currently shopping through CIEMs, but I'm a bit confused by some of this stuff and have some questions and concerns. 1. If an ER4-S/PT can be so good and clear (though lacking bass) with a single BA driver, why can't you get a perfectly tuned IEM with a single low and single high driver...- DrGroove

New custom IEM company - Custom Art: discussion, review, and impressions thread
I've been considering the H8 for a while and have a question I haven't been able to figure out. What is the purpose of using full-range drivers? I think this is the first IEM I've seen use them alongside the typical multi-driver crossover setup.- DrGroove

Fostex T50RP Incremental Mods and Measurements
About to start modding a pair. The stock T50RP earpds aren't thick enough and my ears touch the drivers, which is very uncomfortable after some time. Are the 840 pads thicker? It's hard to tell from pictures.- DrGroove

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
You tried the IM70? I actually thought they were a great upgrade from my atrios, because while the sub bass wasn't quite as good, the mids were so much better. The sound stage is also a huge improvement and it doesn't have the awful microphonics. I'm only getting rid of them because the...- DrGroove
