Alright, the DT770 looks pretty nice!   Would there be any noticeable difference between the 250 and 80 ohm versions to a non-audiophile? Going through my computer with standard onboard sound.

As some have already said, the M50s would be a very good choice for you. I just bought a pair myself, and my review should be floating around here somewhere.
