I got the HP4 recently. Beside its main function as a headphone amp, can it double up as a preamp? Or do I need to get a preamp to link into the HP4 before linking it to a power amp then to the speakers?   I see a button on the left of the amp called power amp which can be turned on or off...

Hi dallan,   Thanks for your opinion! Most use the jh16 with portable amp. The other option is to try the Sonett, I was told that there is no hiss as well. No chance to audition that or the Zana given my location, a leap of faith required! Is yours the ZD SE?

Hi SteveM324,   How different does the PerfectWave DAC sound compared with Benchmark DAC1 Pre? Also can the ZD SE mated with low impedence IEMs like JH16? Will hissing take place? Finally do you perform tube rolling? Many thanks.   Rgds Tim

Thanks for your inputs. I live in Asia, thus auditioning the ZD SE is not an option. Key question is what kind of sound one prefer. Will take that into consideration.

Mainly HD800. I have the MS-Pro as well. In coming JH16, matching would be a bonus.
