Surpised to see you again bengkia , it's been sometime since I last seen you in edmw forum. I recently returned from Japan and bought the ha-fw01 after listening to all the 3 earphones.    FW02 was full of treble man and you had to make it even brighter.  

While I am not a fan of HD800 , the headphone requires better stuff than creative x7

I am thinking of setting up a computer desktop rig on a budget and alo pan am is one of my consideration. I listened grado PS500 and AKG712 with it and felt the akg was a better match with pan am than the grado.

just to share my experience using SR-009. Not only the amp,  the headphone is also very particular to the kind of source i use and the quality of cd recordings i listen to. Previously I was using Marantz KI Pearl  and couldn't' help but to feel that the mids were quite dry in some cd recordings...

I regard hd600 as a superior headphone to the hd800, not in terms of technical capability but the overall tonal balance and relatively less fussy on partnering equipment.

I said " HD600 is the dynamic phone.." is to mean in the dynamic headphone range , hd600 has the best tonal balance.  That doesn't include electronstatic stuff. However for stax , we have to be carefull in system matching otherwise the tonal balance may be off with the wrong matching too.

HD600 is the dynamic phone that always get the tonality of the sound right.  Other headphones sound either too forward, too laidback , too warm or too bright.

If you need to eq a system for it to sound good then it is not a good system.

Thats not to say sr009 is not better than hd600 but the senn is easy to have sweet mids regardless of partnering system. The sr009 is so revealing that we need to be extra careful in choosing source and cable.

HD600 remains very respectable even I have staxs. I compared the senns to grado PS500. No contest.. HD600 sounds better than PS500

Hi david,   What is your opinion on SR009's 'brightness' ? Are they inherently bright (or slightly brighter than neutral as you mentioned) or they just reveal the brightness in the upstream?   I myself do not find SR009 being bright !! It depends heavily on the recording and the source.

I did similar mods to my 727 via help of a veteran hifi modder. In the psu box I have there are 4 transformers it does make a great difference till it sounds very v impressive
