KingSound KS-H3?
Yep! M-10 is the one to get IMHO. Listening to it again & it's VERY GOOD with the H3 headphone. Switching back & forth with the Fostex TH900 off the Oppo HA-1 in balanced mode from same source, Sony A17 & I prefer the H3 on most songs. I love my 900s so that says a lot for the KS. Who knows it...- AustinHorn

KingSound KS-H3?
I've had the KS H3/M-20 now for about 6 weeks. When I 1st got it I had a lot of popping & crackeling & was thinking "oh gee, here we go again". But on advice from e-friends I just hooked it up to my Oppo HA-1 dac & it hasn't been off since. Since day 3 it has been sounding great & over time only...- AustinHorn

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones
Finally got my ADs today, three days short of 9 weeks . Now for some serious listening. Will also leave them on for a few days to see if their is any audible change. Based on what I've heard plus my own experiences with Audeze & HiFiman cans there shouldn't be much. Out of the box they sound...- AustinHorn

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones
Good point, I hadn't thought of that. We will be the "Guinea Pigs" for the new process. Still I don't think Dan would make the change if he couldn't do better! At least I hope I'm right!:confused_face(1):- AustinHorn

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones
An FYI to any other HeadFiers who have been waiting on their Alpha Dogs - I ordered mine on Nov. 21st & inquired about them since as of this Thursday it will have been 8 weeks. I promptly heard back from Dan & here is what he said... " our paint shop has been HIGHLY unreliable, we're moving to...- AustinHorn

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
It really is too bad Jack or his team didn't design a lip of some sort around the glass but to be honest until the issue was mentioned I never gave it a thought. This is not a portable amp & the glass is quite heavy so once it is in place it will stay there. I have a glass topped coffee table...- AustinHorn

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
I spent my first weekend with the new WA7 hooked up to my desktop pc rotating my listening between my hd800, both LCD2s, & my he500. First let me say that I found that the WA7 sounds very, very good with the Senns., as good as my crack/speedball amp - something I wasn't expecting. Also, unlike...- AustinHorn

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
Great point! Other than comparison testing the gold pins this weekend, this may be the one tube amp I should just treat as a SS amp & do as you say. It will certainly save me money compared with some of my other tube amps where I have spent about as much or more on tunes as I paid for the amp...- AustinHorn

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
Yeah I know I'll need to get thinks rearranged to make some room around my desktop or a laptop to fully utilize the WA7 fully. My wife's insistence on having it perminantly located in the living room has kind of thrown me a curve cause I had made very different plans for how to set it up. So now...- AustinHorn

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
Well, I finally got my silver WA7 today. I feel like I've been waiting for over a month. Oh yeah, I have. Had enough time so far to install the stock tubes & use my ipod5 as a source with my HD800s. Even brand new, it sounded very good with them. I tend to prefer them with my OTL amps & off...- AustinHorn

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
Man I'm dying here. It says mine won't be here until early March & I thought I ordered early. Oh well... I would love to hear more feedback on how it sounds with different headphones like the HD800, HE500 or HE6, LCD2 & 3, Beyer 880 600 ohm, etc. it may be a little early for tube rolling...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
Did more tube rolling in the my Earmax today & end up with 3 Telefunkens straight across. That combo with the HD650 & the SAA cable is pure magic. It is pretty clear to me, even if I hadn't read it in some old German reviews from the mid-90s, that the Earmax was voiced for the HD6xx series of...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
I can't read the info other than the ECC86 printing & that is partial. They were in the NOS cubby for NOS ECC86 tubes & tested new on the tester. The GE Boxes were clearly labeled & had a dated sticker that showed how they tested at the time they were delivered. After 30 years nothing had...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
Yeah, I really like my Beyers on both the Earmax & Bottlehead Crack. It sings really well on OTL,amps. I got to hear it on a Zana at a meet & knew then I had to get myself an OTL amp myself. It has a different flavor than the Senns, but it is such a good headphone when it is properly amped...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
Quote: Mine also has the Audio Advancements sticker, but with the much lower (earlier) sn#. I picked up a few tubes at the shop to roll in as time allows. So far, I'm noticing only small differences in the sound signature. More a flavor change that really a better or worse situation. ...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
I must have the original model cause the lady said her husband had had it since the mid 90s or a little later. It has a sn# 4009. Which might mean something to someone who knows Earmax/Brocksieper branded German amps. All I know is it sounds darn good with my HDxxx model headphones. It is the...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
Great pics. Seeing the guts of the unit is really interesting. They do pack a lot into very little space. Until I see what you did I'd pretty much assumed that the amp was unmodifiable. Let us know if you if you do the power cap upgrade & what sound differences it makes. I'm really only...- AustinHorn

Yeah, I for one would like to see the inside of it so pics would be great. Regarding the poor little old lady,: she asked $40, for the lot - amp & al the tubes & I offered $30 & she took it ! Where is the Earmax?
I would love to a/b the 3 (?) versions of the Earmax amp with various cans to see what each brings to tne table. Mine is for mainly headphones like, the HDxxx models & the 600 ohm Beyers only & the pro is for IEMs & easier to drive headphones right? Then the one above that is more of an...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
I have just been using some new jj's in all 3 positions. I do have a ECC81 Mullard near NOS tube that I just installed in the center position. I still have a number of tubes, still in their boxes, that I've yet to test & several are in Silvania labeled boxes but so for several tubes I've tested...- AustinHorn

Where is the Earmax?
Also anyone who cares to feel free to tell me their favs when it comes to tubes they recommend that work best with the HD800 &/or the HD650. Would be much appreciated. I'd heard this amp once back-in-the-day & never saw or read much buzz about it over here in the states. Heard it was popular...- AustinHorn

Thanks Ping, that is exactly what I needed to know. Best $30 USD I ever spent. :D the amp & 20 tubes came with it. Have tested 7 so far & all test NOS so far or close to it. Amp looks like it is almost brand new. Guess I should feel guilty - but not so much! Guess I need to do some tube rolling...- AustinHorn
