How loud do you normally listen and for how long?

Quote:     What you call "ears adjustment" is actually hearing loss ... Sadly speaking , 40 year old and older people don't have their hearing anymore , nothing can be done about it - this is how our ears work . I'm 42 and I can't hear above 16kHz . Alan Parsons (around 57 as well) said...

How about a twitting thread ?

I apologize if this was done before ... Just sitting in a cafe' , listening to Counting Crows "August and everything after" with my M50 , and enjoying myself with a cup of americano . Would fellow head-fiers care for sharing their listening experiences in real-time , Twitter/Facebook style ...

    what are these headphones?

Goofs ... The performers are not wearing their HP in the studio , the sound engineer hits the space bar to start recording (it's command-spacebar in ProTools - the system he is using) , and the party guy is plugging his cord into a Neve EQ that is not in use ... But who cares , Fergie is...

Too much bass bad for headphones?

Quote: Generally speaking you are right , problem is not all EQ's are made equal . Some will distort sooner then other and some will act the same when attenuating a frequency then boosting the master gain , and when boosting a specific frequency .   Quote: You will get the same...

Too much bass bad for headphones?

I was listening to Schubert's symphony no. 9 with my M50's on a pretty high level , but not crazy high . Guess what - on one part (not a loud one)  the bass distorted so bad I feared I did some damage to the spanking new headphones (already burned in , of course) , but apparently they are fine ...

    Too loud ...

Quote:   Generally speaking ,  90dB SPL (Sound Pressure Level )and up  is considered to be the level in which hearing damage occurs  . I measured around 82dB for both sides combined , so I guess it's around 76dB per side - enough to cause discomfort , although I can find myself working...

    Too loud ...

So I bought a pair of M50 in order to (amongst other things) replace my CX400 II (not very happy with them) while commuting , mainly on local bus system . The problem : In order to overcome the VERY loud environment (the bus itself and the people on it !) , I turn up the level on my W760i...

The Audio Technica M50 studio monitor thread

Quote: I had some comfort issues as well for the first 3-4 days , but after these first days of use (in which I put them on and off many times) we were more familiar with each other , the M50' and I . They are still warm-ish , but I guess that's the deal with all closed circumaurals .

    Headphone Sightings 2

Both .... I was just wondering what is Frank's choice of HP for this kind of work . I think the Fostex aren't very popular compared to other pro headphones (7506 for example) .

Reference Studio Grade headphone appreciation thread & Discussion

My experience as a post-production engineer is with these :   K271 II : Have them for 4 years now . Great mids and highs balance and detail . lows are "too neutral" for me and I've encountered some surprises when moving from the HP's to speakers . HD280 : Great isolation and decent comfort...

Audio-Technica ATH-M50 vs Denon AH D1001 vs Creative Aurvana Live

Quote: Hi , First , when talking about consuming music for pleasure , I don't think there is something wrong with something being FOTM . If you enjoy it , then it's doing what it's suppose to do . Second , It might be that the M50 happens to be a good product for any given reason ...

    ATH-M50 ebay sellers

Just got my M50 from asavings . Paid 104$ + 20$ shipping to Israel . They came 14 days after they were shipped in a very well packed box that contained the original retail pack , and it was marked as "gift" . The only thing I had an issue with is that you can't have a real tracking info with the...

    Headphone Sightings 2

Spotted a guy with HD595 today at a train station . They looked huge on his head (maybe he had a relatively small head...) . Anyway , it's quite a rare sight to see someone with a pair of full size cans in public here in Israel , not to mention something that costs more then 10 bucks .
