Looking for headphones for electronica, house, trance
Hey guys, I'm looking around for earphones that would be good for electronica, house, or trance. Looking to spend 300-400. From a quick search the TFTA 1XB's seem to be a pretty good choice in terms of performance to price, but I'm not too sure what other gear is nice. I'll be running it...- Darkraver

Suggest to me a receiver and speakers! $2000 budget
Thanks for your opinion Kawai, I'll definately look more into the 4.5's and 6.5's. I am also more interested in a stereo setup, but I would like for the receiver to be able to support 5.1 for future upgrades. @ Uncle Erik: Floorstanding speakers are out of the question. As a university... -
Suggest to me a receiver and speakers! $2000 budget
The reviews for the Outlaw sound very promising, but the speakers are way too big. I need something I can move with, so specifically bookshelf speakers. The Tekton speakers seem to be tossed around a lot here, so I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight on them? -Darkraver -
Suggest to me a receiver and speakers! $2000 budget
Hey all, I bought an AKG k701 about a year back, and I have been amazingly satisfied by them, but I also really miss the impact and feel of a speaker setup. I was wondering if you guys could suggest to me a good speaker + receiver combo? I'm not sure if it's possible, but I've been...- Darkraver

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Quote: Thanks! Unfortunately there's a buzzing sound whenever I plug it into my laptop, so source will have to be from my sansa clip+ until I build an Alien DAC. -Dark- Darkraver

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
thanks, paint job was done by my sis, kinda gave her free reign over what to do. As for the tubes, all i know is that they were 12au7's made by Baldwin, found them off of kijiji. No microphonics! Beyond that I have no idea what they are, haha -Dark- Darkraver

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Just finished my first DIY amplifier, wanted to show it off here :) I never realized how small 4" x 4" really was, until I started to solder everything together. Also, I really should think about buying another colour for wire, staring into a blue mess doesn't help in debugging...- Darkraver

DIY Amp Suggestion for K701 (~$50)
I guess the question to ask would be which on is more dependable, less noisy (signal wise), and in the end sound better? -Dark- Darkraver

DIY Amp Suggestion for K701 (~$50)
Thanks, I found the post. Is the difference in price between the 12AU7 and than the 12SR7 justified? If it's not a big price difference I wouldn't mind building the "better" of the two -Dark- Darkraver

DIY Amp Suggestion for K701 (~$50)
Hey all, Finally got my K701's in, but don't have an amp yet. I was set on building the Starving Student Hybrid Millet Amp (due to reading that K701's benefit from tubes), but it seems like it's kind of... died at this point. I was wondering if you guys could suggest a good DIY amp that would...- Darkraver

Looking to get a pair of IEM's
Hi, first/second post here. I've been lurking around these forums for a while and have decided to jump into the head-fi world, haha. Anyways, like the title says I'm looking for a set of IEM's for casual listening and on the daily commute. They'll have to isolate decently well, to block out most...- Darkraver
