Am I better off without a DAC?

Thanks for your response giraffe.... I'll start looking for a quality CD player, as that's what I mainly listen to. I love head-fi, we have a wealth of knowledge at our finger tips and friendly members willing to share their experiences.

Am I better off without a DAC?

Glad I found this thread, I hope it's o.k. to post here. I have a 10-12 yr old Yamaha 6-disk cd changer to a Woo Audio WA6-SE. I'm wondering if I'm missing out on untapped potential of my headphones by not buying a dac. Also would it be better to buy a new quality CD player or a dac, or both. I...

    Comparison of 5 popular cans in the $250-350 range - K701, HD650, DT990/600ohm, SR325is, D2000 - UPDATED!!!!

Thanks Dubstep Girl,           Your short evaluation of the 5 headphones is the most acurate and honest of all the reviews I've read. I have 4 of the 5 you reviewed (sans akg) People make the dt990's out to be bass monsters, when really they're not. They are on par with the hd650, but when...

    More Power...

    More Power...

Thanks Tomb,    If I understand correctly; while listening at a particular volume, if the music calls for more bass or quick transitions, a more powerful amp will be able to handle it without any degradation in sound quality.

    More Power...

I've been doing alot of research regarding best amp for my budget. After about a  month I finally took the plunge and ordered the wa6se. But I still have a basic question that I can't find an answer to... what does more power get you? The wa6 gets fabulous reviews, and if the wa6-se has the same...

    Woo Audio Amp Owner Unite

Hi all, I am about to purchase the wa6se,(after alot of reading and an email or two to Jack). He recommended tube upgrades which I will take his advise on, but I noticed that no power cord comes with the amp, just a jumper between power source and amp. I asked Jack about a power cord that he...

    Woo Audio Amp Owner Unite

SilentOne, I'm within probably a few hours of buying a WA6 SE, and I'm wondering what your opinion of the amp is. I currently have a solid state amp and I know the wa6se isn't really tubey sounding compared to the wa2, but wondering if you have experience with other amps and how the wa6se sounds...

    Woo WA2 and low impedance

No, I like more of a dynamic amp with a touch of warmth, (I currently have a Kicas Caliente) and it appears the Woo wa6se might be just what I'm looking for... Thanks for your replies

    Woo WA2 and low impedance

thanks, that was a big concern of mine. How would you personally rate the wa6se with some of the other amps you may have heard, if any?

    Woo WA2 and low impedance

I find myself looking seriously at both the Woo WA2 and the WA6SE. I've read alot of threads regarding both and they seem to be exellent amps. $1000.00+ is alot of money to me, but I don't want to go the cheap route this time. I have both high and low impedence headphones ( grados sr325is...

Reply to review by 'runningman1960' on item 'Denon AHD2000 High Performance Over-Ear Headphones'

Great review TMRaven, I couldn't agree more, the denon ah-d2000's are magnificent. I own Senn's, Grado's, Audio Technica's, and they all have their strong points.... but the d2000's seem to do everything superbly. Not to mention watching movies!!!!

    One of many...

I would say give the Denon ah-d2000 some consideration. They have great bass,( both quality and quantity), excellent for R&B, hip- hop, jazz. The treble is crystal clear without being piercing or harsh, they have a huge soundstage for opera, classical, big band. They're easy to drive but of...

Purity Audio Still Out of Business

I've owned my Kicas Caliente for approx. 2 years now, and am totally in love with it... It brings out the best of all my headphones. My Senn HD650, Denon AH-D2000, and Grado SR325is all sound fantastic when plugged into the Caliente. Then about six months ago I purchased the Audio Technica...

Review of the Audio-GD FUN - A modular Dac / Headphone amp / Preamp

Hi All,    I've been doing alot of reading about different set-ups, and I understand most things like ss amps vs tube amps, recabled headphones, and the purposes for these things. Can someone please explain the purpose of a "pre" amp and what difference does it make in a system,(to boost power...

Wow, They look impressive, nothing like stock sr80i's. It appears they might have the soundstage of the RS1's, but w/killer bass.
