New headphone stand design. . .Thoughts?

Nice build quality - looks impressive. Also looks like a mailbox, haha.

Sennheiser HD800: Spray Painted Plastic and the New Acid-Washed Jeans.

I definitely agree with the TC. I've only gotten to listened to the HD800's once for about 15 minutes, but the materials definitely were surprising to me. I'm sure there's some reason Sennheiser did what they did, but I expected much more of a "wow" when I first saw their new flagship...

    Losing Right Channel? Help?

Hey everyone, I've been noticing lately that when I have my AD700's plugged into my amp, using the 1/4" adapter that came with the headphones, I will sometimes lose the right channel completely, and have to spin the plug in the jack / tug on it a little bit to get the sound to come back...

How much freq. do you hear? (20-20000)

I'm stopping somewhere between 18khz and 19khz.. Not too bad, and I'm 20 years old and don't go to concerts often at all.. I -do- have a 16 year old sister who sometimes gets a little mouthy. I blame her. =)

My Headphone Situation - What to upgrade!!?

Yeah I'm seriously considering getting both of them, haha. They both do different things so well. I listened to the HD800s tonight for a while and love them. A little out of the price range though, unfortunately. I also listened to Ultrasone Edition 8's and really enjoy them, they're the most...

My Headphone Situation - What to upgrade!!?

Yeah - I would rather not have to upgrade the amp / dac right now, for budget-related issues.. I know the 701s and 650s are very different from one another, and kind of on different ends of the spectrums, haha. I've listened to both of them non-extensively, though I've listened for around 10...

My Headphone Situation - What to upgrade!!?

Hey all - Haven't posted in a while, been busy and content with my setup as it is currently, but after a trip to a relative's house today, who happens to have tons of headphones and amps and DACs and everything, and after listening to his system, I felt like I wanted a little upgrade in the...

AKG K701 and Little Dot mk3 amp?

Curiously, would this chain of DAC/Amp provide enough power to pump the AKG-k701's: Styleaudio Emerald DAC --> Starving Student Mini Millet Tube Amp --> k701's? I'm currently using AD700's and really want to get some k701's

    AD700 Pressure on my jaw

I had a similar problem when I got mine, And I actually wear them lower now than I used to, try pulling them down a bit so the top of your ears just barely touch the top of the pad My Sennheiser HD-280's give me some serious aggrivation when I wear them for too long.. They're really tight on...

    Headphones Broke'd!

Yeah.. One of my relatives is an audiophile who does a lot of work on equipment and said they'd be really a pain to recable.. =( Don't feel like spending $85 for a new pair. I need to be more careful with this stuff Thanks a lot

    Headphones Broke'd!

Hey everyone - Haven't posted in ages, been pretty content with the lower-budget system I have working, picked up a StyleAudio Emerald DAC from Whiplash Audio and love it. I have a pair of Sennheiser HD-280's and they have recently broken! They were in a bag in the back of my car and kind...

It's time to go, share your music~ (Ie. YOUR music)

Oh, and you said you liked Jazz, and Scofield is Jazz, so there you go. Other good Jazz (and Jazz-inspired / Funk / Jazz-like) bands: Garage A Trois Charlie Hunter Trio Charlie Hunter Quartet Dixie Dregs (AKA The Dregs) Bela Fleck and the Flecktones Stanton Moore

John Scofield's Albums: Still Warm, What We Do, Solar, Uberjam, Electric Outlet It's amazing stuff. There's a billion more songs and artists that I'm into, but this is what's currently flowing through my headphones, so that's what I'm listing.

    Quick Review of ATH-AD700's

AD700's: ==(---)== K701's: (-------) ..That's my picture.. The ='s are like, a horizontal extension of the sound stage that isn't as deep, kind of lemon shaped really. So for the sound stage, picture a Lemon vs. an Orange

    Quick Review of ATH-AD700's

My source is assorted music from an iPod Touch, lossless encoder. My amp is a Starving Student MiniMillett from Whiplash Audio (-Awesome- Amp, especially for the price!) I'm going to put on some Radiohead now, see how that sounds with them. As far as the depth, hmm.. Well, I don't...

    Quick Review of ATH-AD700's

First thing I'm going to say about these things is that they're most definitely pink! I love it though, it's got a little style, a little sass. Next thing I'm going to say is that off the bat, as soon as I listened to them, they sounded a heck of a lot muddier than the AKG-K701's I had been...

    A comparison between AD700 / AD900 / AD1000 / AD2000

Great post. My favorite part was the picture really, haha. I didn't like the way the AD700's looked when I ordered them, but I figured I'd deal with it, but now they look pretty sweet. They're huge! I'll post back when my AD700's come[back]. (I ordered from Electronics Expo.. yeah..)

Looking for headphones for long sessions

I would vote against HD280. Not for sound quality reasons, but because I personally don't find them comfortable at all for long sessions. It might be because I have a pretty big head but I have a pair and when I wear them for a while it starts to feel like my head is in a vice clamp. AD700's...

Very brief impressions of all the headphones you've heard

Great Thread! This is so helpful and fun to read! I haven't listened to as many headphones as you all have, and I don't have quite trained ears yet, but I have listened to some pricier ones! Sennheiser HD-280's = Good isolation, no need for amp, very small soundstage and sounds a little...

192 kbs and 320 kbs, is there really a difference?

Well, Ham Sandwich, if you can hear a difference in one part of a song, then you can hear a difference in the song. If you can hear preecho on a cymbal crash, then you're listening to two "different" sounds from the same song. What happens when you take a classical track that has 40 cymbal...

192 kbs and 320 kbs, is there really a difference?

Yeah - I need to do some ABX testing on myself. I did some iTunes testing, with the two songs in the playlist and it on shuffle with my eyes closed and I feel like I heard the difference if I could really concentrate. I could have been chance though, but I "guessed" it over 10 times...

Should I just return my headphones? (electronics expo)

I ordered the AD700's and got the A700's, just like the rest of everyone here, and I sent them back yesterday. I called and talked to them and they said it was a barcode problem, which explains why people would still get the same set of headphones back, and that it was resolved. We'll see...

iPod 5G vs. iPod Tough 1G

By cable I mean a line-out cable to plug into my amp. Which means I have an amp and yes, they'll both be amp'd by a Starving Student Mini Millett. Should have the same sound?

iPod 5G vs. iPod Tough 1G

Yeah - I figured there would be an application like that to stream things, but the bitrate on lossless is around 1000 kbps, which is only really about 125KB per second data stream. It -should- be able to stream fine over Wi-Fi. Does anyone know of a good application that'll stream like this?
