Htc One
Quote: Thanks for the reply and links! It was slightly helpful. I already had beats turned off, but switching to Neutron cut the hiss down by a LOT. Enough so that I have to actively listen for it to hear it. Everything on the HTC one sounds great, its wonderful as a portable source...- palalopy

Htc One
I know it was mentioned a little previously in this thread, but I wasn't clear on what the solution should be for it. There is an audible white noise/hiss when I'm using the One with headphones, and it makes it VERY fatiguing to listen for much more than an hour or so. I work in a quiet...- palalopy

Durability of Westone IEM's?
I own UM1s and W3s. I have had the UM1s for over 7 years now, no problems, and the W3s have lasted me well over 4 years. I did have one issue with my Westone 3 where something came loose in one monitor, but I wrote them an email and they had me send it to them, and they sent me a brand new...- palalopy

Westone True-fit & Star Tips fit kit trade post
So I bought the fit kit knowing that only half (at most) of the sizes would even potentially be a good fit for me, as I have small ear canals. I was hoping that there might be some other folks out there who might be in the same boat at me, but for a different size. I've listed the sizes...- palalopy

Beats or Bose For HTC ONE X
I think its pretty safe to say that in the price range of the phones you listed as examples, most of the regulars here would suggest a lot of other options before those three. As someone else said, you should post your listening preferences and price range, and I'm confident a better choice...- palalopy

The IEM/Portable Headphones Deal Alerts Thread - Closed! Use the Deals Thread III instead.
I seem to remember there is some site that helps you buy things in japan for a fee, but for the life of me I can't remember what its called, or even if I know of it from head-fi. Initial attempts to search didn't help. Does anyone have any clue what I'm talking about?- palalopy

Quote: Just keep in mind it isn't being sold directly by buy.com, but some other third party company called buydepot. Not that that necessarily matters, as I think buy.com will still guarantee that the item is legitimate. However, I don't think buy.com or buydepot are authorized...- palalopy

Best Westone earbuds?
'Best' is largely dependent on the size/shape of your ears and how much you value seal/isolation/comfort/durability. All in all, my favorites have been the shure foams. Not as good a seal as complys, but just as comfortable, and 10x more durable.- palalopy

Quote: I saw this too. I'm wondering if this is the best discount possible for higher end universal IEMs? I've been wanting to get a good price on Westone UM3Xs for a while, and I'm thinking this might be the time to go for it.- palalopy

Westone 3's and the Sibilance/Tips Issue
@ raelamb While I admit I am not the most high end audiophile, I don't really know what the point of your post was. Obviously, there is a significant difference in general sound quality from a lossless track to a 128kbps track, but it is not always possible to start from a lossless file. I...- palalopy

Westone 3's and the Sibilance/Tips Issue
Longtime lurker, first time posting, since this is an issue that is of concern to me. Just wanted to share some of my own thoughts/testing with solving this issue, and hope some people could give the same. I have owned the W3s since mid December, and I too have had issues with sibilance. I...- palalopy
