Receiver/amp cleaning (dust/pet hair)?
I'm working on convincing the pet owners to wrap 'em up. But until then, there shouldn't be much harm if I spray it every once in awhile (per your instructions)?- mikemikemike

Receiver/amp cleaning (dust/pet hair)?
I have two animals living in the room with my receiver. Should I do anything about covering the receiver? Or is an occasional clean of some sort needed? Thanks, M- mikemikemike

Can't figure out what cables needed for this setup
Hi all, My new setup will consist of two of these Polk speakers, and this Yamaha receiver. What kind of cables will I need to connect these? Is it just banana plugs on both sides? So could I just get 4 sets of these banana plugs, and this speaker wire? Would that be it? Thanks in advance M- mikemikemike

Can someone in New York open my sr60s?
Wow. Sincerely, thank you very much. You've saved me from a lot of grief. Unrelated: should I delete this entire thread as it's unambiguously not related to regional meet-ups?- mikemikemike

Can someone in New York open my sr60s?
I have ones that look like these:http://cdn.head-fi.org/e/ee/ee73b757_25-unhooked.jpg They are from 2011 or before. Can a spoon handle fit in that crack? I tried using a mini flat-head screwdriver (for glasses) and it couldn't pry them open.- mikemikemike

Near-boiling water in a sheet pan, placing the cups in that. I was prying a knife in the crack and it was just damaging the plastic. I have ones that look like these: http://cdn.head-fi.org/e/ee/ee73b757_25-unhooked.jpg- mikemikemike

I'm trying to open these up to replace the cable. I just cannot seem to do it, no matter how hard I steam them. (Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot.)- mikemikemike

Recommend a receiver and speaker set for under $500?
(Just saw this for some reason, sorry.) That's good to know about the weight, thanks. I hadn't even considered that. Won't be able to nab them for a few weeks yet, so I'm glad I saw your comment!- mikemikemike

Open/crisp (?) IEMs sub-$120?
Hi gang, So, I was hoping people could help me identify some IEMs to buy (as I lost my Denons). There is a particular sound I am looking for, but I'm not entirely sure how to describe it. I want it to sound "open," "sharp," "crisp," or "clear"; or something like that. I also DON'T want...- mikemikemike

What amp for these bookshelf speakers?
Quote: OK, thank you. I hate that for any given product, there will be positive and negative reviews. (And they will both be convincing.) Quote: Yikes... That Icon thing is a DAC + amp, right? I just bought an amp so not really looking to purchase another. Does a...- mikemikemike

If I were to buy that sub (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=300-635), even if it is too big for those speakers or what I want to use it for, is it worth the money if I am...- mikemikemike

What amp for these bookshelf speakers?
Thank you Blackbeard! Quote: I eventually want to move this setup from a bedroom to a room with a TV (once I move out of a place with many roommates). I mainly was curious whether that sub was too big for those speakers. Also, it doesn't like like the sub has volume control...- mikemikemike

What amp for these bookshelf speakers?
Thanks everyone... I'm not really sure what a DAC is... Is that Dayton sub any good? (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-635) If I'm going to spend that much (I know it isn't too much, but I don't have that much in liquid assets, if you know what I mean....), I...- mikemikemike

What amp for these bookshelf speakers?
Quote: Thanks for this. If it is going to go between the source and the amp, shouldn't it have an 1/8 inch jack input and output? The amp I got only has an 1/8" input, and my computer only has 1/8" output. What do dvd players/playstations have, RCA? (I'm currently not home.)- mikemikemike
