I'm thinking about building a CPU and I'm wondering if the sound card would be the only thing I should be concerned with in term of sound. Does the processor matter? Does a sound card give me the best bang for my buck in terms of SQ over a USB DAC? If I'm using the setup with 5.1 speakers...

Sorry for the completely noob-ish question... I have an old Technics SA-222 receiver Technics SL-P170 CD player and Koss KS3350-2 speakers all gathering dust in my basement atm. Is there any way to hook one, two or all three of these up to my laptop?

I got the MDR-XD200 for Christmas, but they feel cheap. I can get the V300's for the same price as the XD200's...should I exchange them?
