New Teac HA-P50-B Portable DAC Amp
Thanks very much It works perfect with Teac-HA-P50 and Galaxy S4. I don’t understand why Teac doesn’t provide a cable with this functionality. Quote:- ngonzalezlev

...are Android based and work flawlessly (some A&K, Fiio & Sony,...) , It seems Android team has to improve the USB communication between smartphones/tablets and DAC. Not only the battery drain, but the need of a proprietary audio application (Onkyo HR) with minimize drops, clicking, Regards- denony

No, in the manual the Teac says it's asynchronous usb. The Teac and Onkyo are identical in hardware and circuitry, only using different opamp chips to achieve a different sound sig for each, Teac is more balanced, Onkyo is more warm.- T.R.A.N.C.E.

It looks like the Onkyo has a key performance difference over the TEAC: asynchronous USB. The Onkyo site points this out where the TEAC site says nothing about it.- jwbrent

New Teac HA-P50-B Portable DAC Amp
Very pleased with the Onkyo HA-200 I picked up for NZD200 (USD138) a few days ago for portable duties. I can confirm it has a slighty warm tilt with potent bass and a smooth treble. Bassheads rejoice! Outclassed by my cleaner and more neutral Pro-Ject desktop rig, but it puts up a damn good...- Vero Golf Champ

Read about the AudioQuest Jitterbug and I wonder if the Teac or Onkyo will work connected to an iPod, iPhone or iPad over the lightning cable and Jitterbug. Did somebody try it and what where the results.- staalf

...out that playing DSD DSF files are converted to PCM and not DSD over DOP as somewhere suggested.... Teac website is a lot clearer to read than Onkyo in my option. http://www.teac.com/product/hr_audio_player_for_ios/ Supported formats when you use with the HA-P50 (or Onkyo HA-P200)...- staalf

When you use the app in conjunction with the HA-P50 you actually don't need an unlock key. At least that is how it works on my phone. Downside is that you can't listen to the music in the app when the HA-P50 is not connected...- middachten

I am considering buying a Teac HA-P50 or Onkyo DAC-HA200 for listening music with my new iPod Touch. Like to use the USB/lighting cable for best possible quality. Can someone confirm that you can use Apple Music to play the music I download with DRM. Hope somebody can test it and share...- staalf

It depends on the player, with the APP Onkyo HF designed for its brother Onkyo amp, and its unlock key, it reaches 96 KHz. I use it with my Xperia Z1 compact- sportyerre

After some research on both models (Teac & Onkyo) I was decided to get the Onkyo since it was a bit cheaper, but now there were at the same price, so I just get the Teac. I just read both threads but I don't have a clear idea about the differences in sound quality, at the begining I though...- dacari

...I use IEMs as well and its definitely more noticeable. With full-sized cans, it's not audible unless you turn it past 80% though. I've seen the Onkyo before, but didn't pick it up since it's not really an upgrade over the TEAC. The Denon on the other hand looks interesting, but if I'm going...- Dinerenblanc

...(IE80 and IE800). But the noise was annoying so I returned the unit and left the hunt for a portable DAC for another day. I just noticed the Onkyo version of this DAC is now available in the US via adorama. Also the Denon DA-10 was just released and available in the US via several vendors now.- fishsticks
