I think you should love the Cyan, I am using the Spring 3 & from what I’ve read the Cyan is pretty similar. I had a Qutest, & although very good the Holo is a big step up, probably would have gone for the Cyan 2 if it had been available at the time.

I had the DMP-A6 Master Edtion, which is a great device as a streamer, the screen is great and all the functions spot on, but the DAC with the HA-3A sounded too "Digital", a bit harsh, after 1 month, I stopped looking to VU meters, spectrum analyser... and sold it! I've bought a Chord Qutest...

Funny thing happened today while I was listening to music: I was having fun with some tunes (new Kara owner here). :)

So I’ve been enjoying the Kara pre amping my WA22. The 1X gain setting is terrific with the WA22 while using my planar magnetic headphone, the D-8000. The DAC I use the most is the Chord Qutest and I set that to 3V RMS. The sound is incredible. The Kara has really elevated my system nicely...

I was considering the Qutest however I'm liking what the Glass FX brings to the table. Nice folks at Black Ice Audio and I've purchased from them before. I was thinking of getting a nice FPGA or R2R DAC for a more analogue sound but this may be a good alternative and value.

I would add that like ALL the other Chord dacs that can be used with an Mscaler it is imo, essential to do so if one wants to hear its full potential with Unamplified Acoustic Instruments. And yes that also includes Dave imo. I am of course very interested to hear what the new Quartet Scaler...

No, I don’t think that’s necessarily something to expect from a DAC, especially how I phrased it there. I think I was contrasting it with the Qutest’s unusual ability to somehow present sibilant, bright material accurately, but without it feeling fatiguing, and I have no idea how that works...

I'm a big fan of the Qutest with the V226. We used to use that combo for demoing at CanJams.
