*resolved* AKG K550 - Blown Can Confirmed.

Ok. Maybe one buyer for now. Jadawgis732 claimed that my DBA02 had channel imbalance.   Well, it turns out that I was right. This person manages to find all sorts of problems with ‘phones. Must have golden ears or something:   He returned his UE600 to Logitech, and put up the RMA’ed...

*resolved* AKG K550 - Blown Can Confirmed.

America has a culture of returning goods. Not sure if the culture is unique in America, but I have travelled enough to know that it is not cross-cultural. Take me as an example. I am rather “Americanized” in this regard. Several months ago I bought two shirts online from Hollister, and returned...

Quote: Nice. Good deed, indeed.   I thought someone was going to pay $100 for a Senn HD800 guide. Well, there might be 800 pages. You never know.

    LCD-2 rev 1 or HE-500/400

Wait... I remember reading Tyll saying that the new batch is gold. Should I hold off selling my LCD-3 and have it RMA'ed then? I thought what Audeze do for the "new" LCD-3 is to make it sound natural / neutral (kind of trying to be HD800 but then it's no longer LCD3).  Indeed, this guy said that...

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote:   Yes. I was talking about LCD-3. I asked about how it does for spoken words, because unless it's a trained musician who knows very well how an instrument sounds, we know how spoken words sound (in terms of naturalness) better.

    New Audeze LCD3

So should I bother having it RMA'ed, if I prefer HD650 over rev. 1 and HE500 in terms of (a) tonal balance and (b) naturalness?   It does not have to be classical music or acoustic music. Can someone use his to watch a movie, and tell me how rev. 2 does for spoken words?

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote:   I have HE-500 with me here. Also not happy with it for tonal balance and naturalness. Great cans for vocal though (if you can bear with the colored, mid-centric signature).

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote: I agree with you. It's superb in many aspects. I am just not happy about it's tonal balance and naturalness. As I said, I would rather pick up HD650 for classical music and acoustic music. That's why i wonder if I should bother having it RMA'ed

    New Audeze LCD3

I am sure it's been discussed before, but could someone tell me how rev. 1 and rev. 2 differs in tonal balance and naturalness? I mean I am happy with LCD-3 for rock, electronic, pop, and other processed music. However, I am quite unhappy with it for vocal, classical, and acoustic music. Indeed...

    Small Objective 2 Review

How To: O2 with Triple Gain Switch (1x, 2.5x, and 6.5x)

As a general rule, amps perform better at lower gain settings -- the sound is cleaner, background darker, soundstage bigger, and sound less congested! Take O2 as an example. It is considered by many as TOTL comparable; it provides enough juice for power-hungry orthodynamic phones with its...

Why not a Dual BA from Etymotic?

Well, Heir Audio is a sponsor so I doubt that it's founder is a fool. I was just asking a legitimate question: would the sound differ, if one of the 20 drivers is placed differently than this: http://www.head-fi.org/t/568365/some-pictures-of-my-woodies-by-the-wizard-aka-the-grand-master/135

Why not a Dual BA from Etymotic?

I am sure you have a point. But would you say that this 20-driver IEM (which is a creation of Wizard of Heir Audio, BTW) would sound differently if the 20 drivers are not lined up like this? http://www.head-fi.org/t/568365/some-pictures-of-my-woodies-by-the-wizard-aka-the-grand-master/135

Why not a Dual BA from Etymotic?

Quote:   Not sure about that. The people at the home-made-iem thread told me that there's no such a thing as individual tuning. For example, BA placement in relation to the shell/bore does not matter. That is to say, no matter how the BA drivers are placed, it still sounds the same.

Why not a Dual BA from Etymotic?

That might be true, but 99% of the IEM manufacturers do zero (0) research.
