Dark Souls!
One big difference from Dark Souls is Demon's Souls is not about the boss fights but instead about the levels. The bosses simply serve as puzzle-like capstone events between the level sections.- noper

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
Just read through the blog, very cool to learn about the process. I know a bit of EE and signal processing, and I was surprised to learn most crossover implementations don't have a band-pass filter for the midranges. Very cool idea with the fully band-filtered design, no compromises indeed...- noper

The Official 64 Audio Thread | apex & tia Technologies
Waiting for certain reviewers for a complete picture of the Volur in lieu of getting to demo them... as well as comparisons. Anyone else speculating what the new isobaric and tia waveguide tech could do for other potential successors? Fingers crossed for a Fourte successor that doesn't kill its...- noper

64 Audio Shootout - Nio. Trio. Fourte. Noir
Nice write-up! I've owned both the Fourte and Noirte for at least a year and you nailed my impressions of each. I must have strange ears though because I never thought the Fourtes sounded weird and I couldn't get myself to like the Noirs.- noper

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
I own a custom Phantom, which probably has the most accurate imaging I've ever heard in an IEM. Sounds like a 3D space both equally wide and deep. Anyone know which of the new lineup can match it for imaging but also have lots of "air"? Phantoms are a bit too warm for me at times.- noper

Yes they say the SPL frequency response is a measure in the frequency domain while the impulse response is a measure in the time domain. They are two different axes. The impulse response shows you how a driver responds to an instantaneous voltage spike. Which is why I said I prefer CSD waterfall...- noper

Transient response. Google it for more details. You can input a known waveform like a square wave and see how closely the output matches the input. The closer the output, the more accurate the driver. This is a characteristic of the driver and cannot be faked through dsp or software. So assuming...- noper

crinnacle's review pretty much answered my questions. I would like the subbass over midbass tuning. I would not be impressed by its technical performance. So until they significantly improve the driver, I will not be getting the APMs.- noper

Intel mobile chips are terrible because their ISA is inherently power-hungry. And I don't think ARM (with a more efficient ISA) really pushes chip development anymore. So I'd argue the bar to do better than Intel wasn't very high (in low power applications). I don't know if audio has such a...- noper

I'm sure 3rd parties are furiously drawing up plans for better cases, though it won't address the power-on/off issue. Maybe they'll design them to hold the included case as well a la candy bar bag carrying bags.- noper

Yeah, it would be analog in the cable converted to digital for lightning and converted back to analog to for the drivers. Unless I'm grossly misunderstanding something.- noper

Enjoying the impressions so far, might not be my cup of tea since I prefer sub-bass to mid-bass. Also seems like the mids are recessed.- noper

To be fair, the tech youtubers did a fine job describing as much as they could. They just don't have the experience of critically listening to many different systems across the entire personal audio ecosystem. I'd even settle for a Z Reviews at this point. @BoardC3: Sounds like they're missing...- noper

So at this point it's established that Apple went for a wide sound stage and sparkly treble. Anyone able to speak to other technical capabilities? For me, I prefer headphones capable of accurate instrument positioning and separation. Is the sound stage just like a wide flatscreen? Or is it more...- noper

I have very comfortable and light Sennheisers at home, the PS5 headset for my PS5, and normal Airpods for calls. Only way I can see these replacing anything is if I can get it to pair with my PS5 and if I can justify carrying these around to take calls. If they sound good, that's a bonus but I...- noper

Campfire Audio Dorado 2020 & Vega 2020
It's been years since I listened to the original Vega, so I can't give you a precise answer. But I recall being the original Vega's bass being nearly overwhelming. The new Vegas sounds like the bass is much better integrated. I wouldn't say it's as simple as less bass or increased treble or a...- noper

Campfire Audio Dorado 2020 & Vega 2020
Vegas arrived today. Impression after a few hours is they're great at what they do, a warm bass-centric sound with enough treble to give sounds shape and a wide soundstage (though imaging isn't super precise, imagine a curved wide monitor vs. VR headset). It's been a few years since I had the...- noper

Campfire Audio Dorado 2020 & Vega 2020
