As I listen to them more, the more I like them, even better. They may not be the most airy tubes, but the mids, vocals and base are outstanding. I think the 2.5v reserves for the driver tubes for the 5v rectifier has given them more impact on the sounds.

My 2 GIANT tubes have arrived with the 2 biggest boxes I have ever seen. These KT170 power tubes are as good as any top 5. The first impression is really excellent, the tonality is clear, full and dynamic. As the tubes get warmer, you can feel the impact of the base. Its kind reminds me of EL3N...

Did you order your tubes from the UK? I ordered 2 pairs of 5A/152M from the UK and 1 pair from Canada. Both of them arrived within a week and the adapters from Mrs X took about 10 days to the US.

I am aware of this situation because using direct heated rectifiers may shorten the life of the power tubes. I have so many direct and indirect heated rectifiers and it is kind of fun. I have tried both types and prefer the indirect heated rectifiers more. They sound much better to my ears...

The only 2 pairs of drivers I use most of the time are C3G and 5A/152M. I like them because of medium gain (both of them can also be used as power tubes as well). You can use other driver tubes to see which one you prefer.

After listening to so many power tubes, I can say these are my top six power tubes in no particular order. EL12 Spez El3N EL39 C3G 5A/152M EL38 EL3N sounds so dynamic with Toby Keith (RIP)

It is a very nice rectifier that many people ignore. As a matter of fact I used it yesterday on my amp. I bought it about 5 years ago for $10.00.

Great sound does not have to be expensive. A pair of 5B/254M + a pair of 5A/152M + 5R4WGA Potato Masher and 2 pairs of adapters for less than $150.00 USD = Awesome sound, what a bargain.
