The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)

The HE-1, having listened to them, are definitely amazing in terms of sound quality. Best I've heard, ignoring the absurd price.

    Meze Audio 109 Pro

I heard these again along with the DCA Aeon 2, Hifiman Edition XS, Sennheiser HD660S2. The Meze and DCA were my favourite. The two have different presentations but I really enjoyed both (the DCA more than I did the first time I heard it). I think the Meze wins on comfort though. The Hifiman...

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones

Good to know. I imagine it would be similar in Canada. At least I hope. I don't use them as much since getting the Fiio FH3 and iFi Go Link, but they do come in handy.

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones

Same thing just happened to my px7 s2. I've had mine for almost 2 years. Thought the quality was a lot better than that.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

I agree, I was definitely very hyped to hear the E3 after reading everything about it. It is a different flavour to my existing headphones for sure since everything I have is Dynamic. And yes, 2 songs is definitely not enough time to really formulate an opinion. However, I listened to the DCA...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Well call it what you want, that was my initial impression. Yes it was only 2 songs, not enough time to formulate a proper opinion, but initial impression I found it lacking fun despite being technically amazing.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

I heard the E3 recently and while technically brilliant, for some reason I just wasn't blown away by it. It sounded perfect, but to me, not that exciting. Maybe it was the source (an RME ADI-2) or my music selection. It was a short demo as well, just 2 songs.

What is the headphone that you will keep forever and never sell?

I've only ever sold 2 headphones as far as I remember. Audeze EL-8 Open and B&W P5. I don't tend to sell headphones because I honestly can't be bothered unless I really hate them and they're worth the effort of selling

The Sennheiser HE1 and how I came back after 16 years hiatus from Headfi (acquisition, unboxing, installation, and impressions over time)

Wow! You have some insane gear lol! I've never listened to Magico before but my understanding is they make some of the best sounding speakers on the market today.

The Sennheiser HE1 and how I came back after 16 years hiatus from Headfi (acquisition, unboxing, installation, and impressions over time)

Loved reading this! Congratulations on getting the HE-1. They are the best set of headphones I've ever heard without a doubt. I got 2 sessions with it (1 for 15 minutes and another one for 30 minutes). No matter what kind of music I threw at it, the sound was just incredible.

    Rank the IEM's you've heard

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

I just picked up the Crinacle Zero 2 for $35 Canadian. Plugged just into an apple 3.5 to usb-c, was quite disappointed. Then I plugged it into the iFi Go Link and it was a huge improvement. Wasn't expecting it to sound that much better but the iFi definitely made a big difference. For $35, they...

    Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

I heard the IE800 several years ago but I remember distinctly how large it sounded. An amazing sound. Just got a new cable for my IE80...I'll have to listen to them again. Not in the same league as the IE800 but still was pretty good

What situations do you use wired IE's like Sennheiser ID 600 or 900?

Well I use them at work now. I went from using my b&w px7 s2 at work to bringing my Schiit Asgard and Audioquest dragonfly (before it crapped out) to the office. One day I decided to bring out my Mee Audio Pinnacle P1 and fiio Q1 and just really enjoyed the sound. So I switched to IEMs at...

    Mee Audio Pinnacle P1 alternative

I do find the P1s to be a little bass light with certain music. But if I turn on bass boost on the Fiio Q1, it sounds excellent! I'm still considering trying the ie200. I just would rather not have to replace the cable right away

    Mee Audio Pinnacle P1 alternative

Well I decided to just go with the Fiio FH3 after just going back and forth between trying to decide which one I really wanted. Hopefully sounds good! Plus I got a replacement cable for my old sennheiser ie80

    Rank the IEM's you've heard

Haven't heard many IEM's. But I'll rank what I've heard and owned. 1. Thieaudio Monarch MKIII 2. Sennheiser IE800 3. Mee Audio Pinnacle P1 - (own and still love) 4. Sennheiser IE80 - (own but needs a new cable) 5. Shure SE215 - (owned years ago, lost them but they were pretty good). 6...

    Mee Audio Pinnacle P1 alternative

Hello Headfiers, Havent posted in a while but looking for advice. In a sea of what looks like a million IEMs, I'm looking for an alternate IEM to the Pinnacle P1 for less than $400 cdn. Very happy with the sound of the P1, but I've had them for years and wondering if I'm missing out with the...

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Thanks for your input! I heard the HE-1000 (don't remember if it was the V2 or SE) but that was the impression I got. I also found it did well for cinematic/soundtrack kind of music but wasn't as engaging for rock and metal. Not sure about other genres.

Now that is one fine looking headphone. I demoed the Aune S9C Pro DAC/Amp combo and loved it.
