Rose Technology Discussion & Impressions Thread
I mentioned this because several large brands of customs and Chinese manufacturers annouced that they have moved to a German brand of resin, and EnvisionTec is the only one in the business. At least this seems like a move to the right direction.- tienbasse

Astell & Kern KANN - DAP with Massive Storage & Battery
Because this is what the microsd standards actually say. Anything from 64Gb SHOULD be formatted in exFAT which brings additional benefit in terms of file size (gone is the 2Gb file size limit) and indexing, among other things. Blame the DAP manufacturers for not respecting the standards because...- tienbasse

Rose Technology Discussion & Impressions Thread
Yeah, you tell me: all my IEMs can only be found in 2 places: in my ears or in the padded box. And this did nothing to help preventing damage because these IEMs actually self-destruct over time due to the low grade plastic of the shells and poor assembly relying on cheap glue. Sidestory: There...- tienbasse

Why are almost all headphones designed so badly ergonomically?
Simple answer from someone working in R&D = when you don't have anything concrete to sell novelty every year, then aesthetic features take over performance and usability. It's called cheap innovation for the masses. Campfire Cascade is the latest iteration of that trend in high-end models...- tienbasse

MD+ pairs very well with V20 in my opinion, it provides solid bass and a smooth higher end. Bass lovers can even use the bass EQ preset to get a bit more "humph". I actually ike this pairing better than when paired with WM1Z (even using the balanced output). I didn't find the vocals...- tienbasse

SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A
I was thinking the same until I got my CustomArt Fibae ME. Truely amazing bass from BA. And it pairs nicely with the 4.4mm output of WM1Z (no EQ-ing was necessary). That being said, they have smooth treble, so they may not suit all ears, since some prefer more extended treble, with all the...- tienbasse

Law doesn't force them to honor orders when this is obvisouly an error, but you never know... 149€ is a VERY good price, although I agree that it should go down since the 512Gb introduction.- tienbasse

No, they still have very bad attitude towards consumers, and as long as they keep blaming customers for mishandling their IEMs, nothing will change. If Penonaudio wasn't playing the middleman to help customers getting repairs or replacements, Rose wouldn't do anything. I had enough discussion...- tienbasse

Bamboo = cheap, and it looks obviously assembled from multiple parts. For 1500$, it doesn't exactly look better than D7200. SQ is one thing, but for this price you also buy flawless built quality.- tienbasse

Incoming Astell & Kern New: A&futura and A&norma
No, it's just called crapty market segmentation, which becomes fairly ridiculous now that competition has released DAPs with full functionality for much less. As much as I love good SQ, hard specs DO also matter!- tienbasse

IMR - R1 Thread
It doesn't matter which pin is positive or negative, as long as both side of the cables are plugged to get the same polarity, the IEM will work the same. If you're not convinced, reverse the connector on both sides and tell me if you can hear a difference (= you won't).- tienbasse

The Astell & Kern AK120

You won't damage anything by having polarity inversed, the sound will be unbalanced that's all. If it happens, reverse the cable on one side and you're done. No need to worry that much.- tienbasse

They get mostly positive feedback because they are competent at what they do, which is being quite flat with a tad of bass. No big wow effect, but no irritating quirks either (no harshness, no big spike) and the ergonomy is very good, so the value proposition is fair and honest, despite all the...- tienbasse

Go to Penonaudio and search for "2-Pin 0.78mm Copper Mixed Silver-plated Upgrade Cable" I'm using this custom-made cable with a 4.4mm connector with my WM1Z. Good combination if you like a bit more life into drums, vocals and cymbals. I use similarly made cables with my MMCX IEMs (Ibasso CB12...- tienbasse

With an 8-core hybrid (4 copper + 4spc), you get good bass extension + crisper treble, if you're after a more vivid experience. With standard spc, it gets flatter indeed.- tienbasse

I would vouch for the iem connector itself. I tried 3 cables and they all fit more loosely than with the other 2-pin IEMs that I own. It's not VERY loose but I was surprised because you usually have to apply much more force when inserting a 2-pin cable (CustomArt Fibae ME for example).- tienbasse
