Watts Up...?
It seems you're saying that the pulse array architecture, with a high quality local clock, is resistant to jitter at high frequencies - but the resistance to jitter varies according to the number of elements in the pulse array. I suppose the jitter is "averaged" by the number of elements in the... -
Watts Up...?
This post explains: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/watts-up.800264/page-161 So, follow-up question for @Rob Watts : with the large count of FPGAs inside Quartet M Scaler, is timing relaxed such that a 112.896MHz crystal is practical? -
Watts Up...?
@Rob Watts going back in time to the DAC 64, this design showed the benefit of using a RAM buffer to reduce jitter problems. It features a pulse array running at 104MHz, like current Chord DACs: https://chordelectronics.co.uk/product/dac-64 In recent times you've said that the pulse array is... -

I imagine the Ultima DAC will be where this would first be seen. I reckon DAVE won't be officially upgrade-modded - companies like Linn or MSB do this, but Chord has never done this as far as I can tell.- Jawed

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
It will be built to order and there'll be a queue of orders ahead of yours when you place your order, so it could be six months or a year before you get yours, after you place your order. To be fair, Chord is finalising a new building, so it will at least have more space for the construction of...- Jawed

The buttons and screen for Quartet should be on the power supply chassis, not the processing chassis. Sure, that would mean another FPGA is required to work with the screen and controls, and it would mean that a communication channel between the power supply and the processing chassis is...- Jawed

DAVE's original remote is a travesty. Apparently current preamps come with something similarly obnoxious. If I was you I would contact a shop that sells Chord stuff and buy the replacement DAVE remote. It's still a toy worthy of a £100 hi-fi, but the buttons are pretty clear on the subject of...- Jawed

Ideally Ultima DAC is a single chassis that could fully integrate Quartet scaling and DAC. An Ultima 5 power amp is about 5 times the internal volume of DAVE (Ultima Pre 2 is a bit smaller). So within a chassis of the same size, there's plenty of space including having shielding, for high...- Jawed

We're well past the point where that matters to anyone who could be interested, in my opinion. It was early last year that John Franks leaked Quartet, I believe. I think it's a little embarrassing that Chord has 12V trigger capability but the DACs don't support that. On the other hand, it would probably cause RF noise problems. I think Naim has created an optical system for trigger automation with its newest range. Optical would be preferable on Chord... -

I think we have to assume it does. A friend with a Mojo 2 reports sound quality differences amongst three cables: KabelDirekt, Sys Concept and Supra ZAC (in ascending "sound quality"). It may be that Mojo 2 is more susceptible than other Chord DACs (or HMS). The well known streaming services...- Jawed

Another test you might like to try: Each of the pair of outputs on the back of HMS dedicated to DBNC mode is capable of outputting music on its own, with no cable connected to the other. So try this test: turn off HMS and TT2 (and the amplifier you have connected to TT2, if you use such an...- Jawed
