...of this, there's a band called Youngblood Brass Band, and, whilst not strictly Jazzy at all, in 'Elegy' (live) they lay down some 'scratching' that's actually done through the mouthpiece on a Sousaphone. Wonder if it's possible on a sax.. *want to try/ don't want to wake people up..maybe... -

Love that Hendrix piece. I have to admit I knew nothing about those projects, seems to be quite a few people saying he was one of the pioneers of fusin Jazz.. Anyone have any suggestions for unusual instruments used in Jazz in it's many forms? I've just come across this album, really fresh. -

Haha, for now it's just music and chilling. Spinning Frank Zappa's Hot Rats atm. Pretty far out and groovy. I suppose it's always good when a record makes you want to get your instrument of choice out and play along. Conversely, it's dawning on me that I'd never be able to make my alto sax... -

Many thanks for all the contributions in this thread..working my way through them (easiest work I've ever done ;) ) Came across this tonight and had to share: Sipping some Benromach (a must try, Scotch lovers) and thoroughly enjoying this. It may have taken 21 years for me to 'get'...
